I too emergency shopped the other day as I can only see the roads getting worse due to the lack of grit in most parts of the country!!!..the foreign stuff ordered isn't due in for a while either.
Pepe...know that trapped feeling..when will you be able to go out?(sorry don't know what sort of op you had)

I hear they are taking sand from the beaches now- Here's hoping for British inclement weather to return soon.:D

    Pepe had a hernia op.:o

Fantastic news on the DD reduction.Have you been trying to save gas/electric?
Well done on all the shopping..think it's best to have a lot in as you never know what the shops will run out of.

OOOOOOOOOOOH...poor PEPE..hope you recover soon.I can understand you not going out as slipping would be very painful.
  • I haven;t got a checker thing, but i worked out how much we were using. Then draught proofed even more, lagged even more...and turned off even more. As bulbs went i replaced with loads of freebie low energy ones.

I bake a lot and use computer a lot as well. TV seems to be on a lot with the kids- but just by being more aware- have been able to reduce DD from £105(they kept putting it up) last year to this now. They paid back over payments last year as well- and i constantly check for better deals. All due to advice on here..and i could do more, but we are comfortable and that's ok for the moment. :)

To be honest Taxi, it took very little thought after the first week. Now i check once a fortnight, but initially did readings more regularly.

Then getting organised was the next step and perhaps- 20 mins searching for better deals. That's it- very little effort.:D But good savings to be had, i was quite limited on budget last year and i was determined to get more flexibility.

don't forget quidco - eon are offering £70 for dual fuel swap - I am sure others are the same

i use eon - every month or so I check they haven't introduced a cheaper tariff and if they have I swap to that. every 6 months I check if Eon are still cheapest for me

also look out for threads on OWL electriicity monitors - since I got mine I have saved 30% on my leccy bill (to be fair I was looking to cut down anyway, but I found it helped) - eg I cut my gas by 20% in the same period which obviously wasn't affected by the OWL

be safe out there - nearly did myself in shovelling snow
