happy new year everyone.
can i rejoin for jan my budget is £80 for the month which i think is going to be more than enough for 2 adults and 3 kids.
my freezer and cupboards are full, ive even got a box of food in the bedroom lol.
ive come over 2 weeks of meal plans so should be able to stick to the plan and come under budget..
ive got loads and loads of fruit and veg that i just dont know what to do with.
i would try to freeze the veg but ive no room in the freezer. there will be alot of smoothies and milk shakes for a while too lol.
i sure that all im going to need to buy for the next 3 weeks is milk and eggs and maybe fruit if it all gose off lol.
good luck to everyone this month.0 -
Evening everyone - I've just spent the last half hour writing out a menu plan for the next 2 weeks and now I need to do an online shop so I can get the ingredients needed. I hope it comes to less than £50 but we need quite a lot of cleaning products, loo rolls etc.
Sending DD13 to the greengrocer tom morning while I'm at work to get onions and carrots (if I go I'll buy more than I need).
Keeping my fingers crossed that my temporary contract at a supermarket is renewed as I've really enjoyed the last couple of months working there 2 evenings a week and the extra money if VERY useful.
Good luck everyoneMortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000

Hi everyone,
this is the first time i'll be trying the GC. I'm aiming to stick to a budget of £120 for myself and OH.
Spent £24 today in sainsbury's on food that should last a week. So a reasonable start!0 -
First of all, hugs to Sunny Girl and Slow & Steady. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
Managed 2 out of 3 NSD so far this month :j resisted the tempation today to get milk and marg (that i needed) and thus throw lots of other items in my basket (that are not needed!!)
I have excel 2007 and discovered the other day a very useful template "weekly meal planner" and "grocery" list both of which I have put to good use, creating a meal plan for each week with a corresponding grocery list. So once this week's meal plan is finalised, i should only have to buy what is on the grocery list, nothing else and where possible, use up what I have already.
Everywhere I look, I seem to be surrounded by food , I have plenty of teabags, toilet roll and cat food and my freezers are full so I should have no excuse not to come in under budget this month.0 -
Hi,
Please can I return to this thread? We have had the kitchen redone over the past 7 months - yes 7 months, so budgetting and cooking from scratch went out of the window.
I will stick to £250 a month for 3 adults and 1 cat.
Just off to check out menu plans now - I am sick of eating out of a microwave and a toaster. Although I did get very creative:rotfl:Jane 21120 -

Hey can I join in please? Usually spend around £150 per week on food  but have been inspired by this board, plus I really want to pay off my cc's this year... so I'm setting my January budget at £250!
Did some meal planning this week, and shopped in Netto instead of ASDA today. Managed to get enough food to feed Me, DH and 2 x DS, plus 6 minded children under 5, for an amazing £53.00 so well chuffed.

Hello. Little bit of shopping this afternoon - no woopsies really surprisingly
Spent £14 in Waitrose (fruit & veg, cheese & crisps) - £34 in Lidl (fruit juice, cereals, mince, beans, eggs, bacon, cat food) and £1.68 in M&S (Milk and carrots)I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine0 -
Havent purchased anything this month so far - found some bacon for Ham and egg pie deep in the freezer so didn't have to venture out as I first thought, made my own pastry and used up eggs we had, there is enough ham and egg pie to do lunch tomorrow and I put the extra pastry in the freezer. Need to look at menu planning for the next two weeks, and do online shop to cover everything. Will need to buy rolls tomorrow so that will be £1.50 - did try to make some by hand to save buying them but to be honest if I fed them to the ducks the poor things would sink they are that dense!Every days a School day!0
