When I last made a Roman blind all I did was used the existing curtain rail and hooks!! You need to weight the blind at the bottom so it falls smoothly and ensure that the first and last hooks on the rail are locked into place, should work OK, mine did!!
What did you use for weight?

I posted this in the old style money saving, but hopefully a keen crafter here would be able to help.

Can anyone suggest MSE ways of making a roman blind?
I've made a panel from remnants, so far I've spent £3 (and its a lovely silk fabric, plus bump and blackout lining), so I don't want to ruin the bargain by buying a £15 roman blind kit. What are the alternatives?
    Thanks!

the way ive did mine and am making two at the moment as decorating daughters room next week in hold will post photos when done.

use a length of 2x1 fastened to wall attach stick and sew velcro on it.

sticky side to wood i use staple gun too for extra support.

    sew other side to blind.

i use blackout lining and cut strips for my rods from the excess lining and i buy thin dowel and slide this into pockets, i dont use weights and they always hang nice

I'm a long time lurker but I thought I'd finally join in as I love seeing what people have been making on here.

I make lots of things but following the birth of my nephew last year I've been concentrating on making baby quilts and blankets. There are a few photos below along with one of a dress I made :).

I've taken the plunge today and bought a used Brother Innovis 1500d embroidery machine on ebay. I'm so excited I can't wait to get it, I'm going to be embroidering everything! I know it isn't very MSE but I'm going to see if I can try and get a business off the ground so it will help with that, and I picture myself having it for many years so over time I'm sure it will be worth it, not that I'm jusifying it to myself or anything :o.

I currently have a janome machine which I love. I'll see how I get on with the brother - If I'm okay with it I might let my mum have my current machine as I know she has her eye on it!
