Some more "bits and pieces" :-

    Rubbish bin -

    piece of big polysterene,
parts of holey rubber gloves (after making "rubber bands"),
squashed polysterene beans from a bean bag.

    Recycling bin -

using up jar contents and lids (that do not have the jars) first before discarding.

    Food-related -

used up some apples to make apple cider vinegar and stored in spare glass jars later to be recycled,
cleared perishables from the kitchen surface for recipes (but more has since accumulated!),
using up lots of free lard in recipes that was taking up to much freezer space,
creating freezer space by mixing two not very tasty freezer recipes together to create a better one,
sorted out a bag of sauce sachets (two thrown away) and now stored in piles in a cupboard so easy to see. I have used some as spreads on small plain tasting bread portions.

Today tackled the garden, intending to make it more spacious for other plants next year so weeding and collecting anything edible.

I've got my eye on my big pile of books behind my sofa. I think I might tackle a little bit each evening rather than leave them to the weekend. I have a bookcase in my bedroom completely full of DH's books that he won't throw away. I have asked (insisted :D) that he clear me one shelf. That means I can house the few books that I really don't want to throw. Hopefully that will inspire me to dispose of the rest.

Well DH cleared me a shelf and a half! I was very impressed. :) So that huge pile of books behind my sofa has now reduced to a small bagfull to go to CS or my mum.

So far then I have cleared 3 years worth of birthday cards from my dressing table and the huge pile of books behind my sofa. Ok so what next? I would love to tackle the masses of quilts, pillows and bedding in the corner of my bedroom so I think that will be my next job. I have no airing cupboard so I will have to get my thinking cap on? Someone on here suggested I actually buy a cupboard to put them in so at least they would be behind closed doors even if they still took up space, so that's something I will think about. Hope to report soon that I have cleared it.

I really like the 100 things idea. I might try that once my major hotspots are done. Well done everyone on all the great decluttering. :D

Hi everyone, I've not been here for a few months, I wonder if anyone remembers me? :o

I've had my ups and downs... mostly downs sadly. I'm currently going through my 3rd miscarriage which is tough and I have a trial starting at the end of November which won't be fun (I am the victim).

    On the upside though my lovely little (well, big really. She's thigh high now and weighs over 100lbs) mastiff turned one in July, my cat gave birth to 5 completely gorgeous kittens who are now 14 weeks old (below is one of the kittens I've kept, her name is Cassandra or Cassie for short);

November 5th will be mine and OHs anniversary and my German Shepherds 2nd birthday which I'm looking forward too :j

Waffling a bit now... back on topic!

Today I have sorted out all 3 bedrooms (only 1 of which we use the other 2 were a dumping ground). I've bagged up a lot of recycling, rubbish and stuff to go to charity. Started the biggest load of washing ever (it's scary how huge it is) and have moved our bedroom from the 1st room to the 2nd bedroom, started turning the 1st bedroom into a nursery (for the future) and the 3rd room into a bedroom for the cats.

It's a very productive day here! Hope everyone is ok and enjoying their Sunday :) x

    This weekend:
    - 4 items of post redirected & in the postbox
    - 2 ink cartridges on their way to Tesco recycling (& 200 points on their way to me - will be checking!)
    - sent for a recycling bag for DH's dead mobile (50 points worth)
    - DH took dead printer, polysterene packing, 23 tetra packs, plastic bucket, bent metal bread bin & a carrier of tinfoil to the recycling centre, also 2 toughened glass item to the tip
    - I filled the printer box with bric-a-brac for the CS & a bag with 12 of DH's old garments & 1 book to the CS - all via my mum who helps there
    - 6 take-away cartons to be taken to friend who uses them, & the pair of shoes meant for mum but forgotten in a bag & hanging by the door
    - 7 items listed on E-bay

Polished halo, then dusted where all the [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] donated items had been.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

Welcome back S! Love the puddy cat.
On the decluttering front I got rid of about 20 things so will add that to my overall total. Lots of recycling cluttering up the place. I blitzed the kitchen, so it now looks much better.

Who's up for getting rid of 100 by this Friday? :T
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

100 things by Friday? ... Intriguing. I may just give it a go. It's a shame I had such a big clearout today, I would have counted!!!

  • Come on S please join me! I need to refind some motivation, I've done really well overall this year but I'd like to really get things under control. Anyone else up for 100 things decluttered by Friday?
