Oh yes LS...and for me its still working most of the time..definitely fewer impulse boots buys..BUT could still do with a clear out especially as I go away for work a lot and get lots of hotel samples.

Very happy to start this again..it's a great and very simple idea.

    Anyone up for joining us???

    Hi..update..

Finished up small tube of body wash and a bigger childrens' body wash too..so that feels cathartic!!

But...still think I need to use everything up instead of junking it...I need to feel the pain of working through the stacks I have if I am to avoid this behaviour again!!:rotfl:

    Hi

I suppose the thing about having a mountain of toiletries is: if I have a period of hard times I'll be clean and moisturised which will cheer me up no end. (Nearly finished a Lush shower gel dated 2007:j:j)

    Hi all,
Have read all of this thread right from the start and have been inspired to have a PROPER sort out!!

I've been doing it bit by bit for the past few months mainly clothes that don't fit and my ex boyfriend's junk which he couldn't be bothered to collect from my loft 18 months ago and told me to get rid of and my old camera, mp3 player and video camera as I've bought new ones. My eBay profits since July are £212.96. :T

I've got some time off work at the moment so I've had a blitz and done the following:
    • sorted out books that I will never read or have read partly and never finished (never likely to finish) for ebay and Green Metropolis (never heard of GM before this thread so thanks!)
    • sorted out DVDs which I didn't enjoy to go on ebay
    • sorted out more clothes (some still with tags :o) again for ebay
    • sorted out all my surplus Avon stock (I'm an Avon lady) for ebay or gifts for friends
    • bagged up things for the charity shop
    • listed my old TV on freecycle
Hopefully I should have more extra cash to add to my eBay profits soon and a lot more space in the house........ ready for when my OH eventually moves in with his stuff!! :T

Well done cashbackqueen..very therapeutic having a clear out! Maybe will 'impose' one on the family this weekend with time off for good behaviour..ie HM pizza and Telly on the Saturday eve!

Have finished up some shampoo. No toiletries brought for months now..feeling good about that!

Hello! I started this thread originally then kind of forgot about it, wandered away from the boards etc. Is anyone up for resurecting it? The way my house is looking at the moment I definitely need to start sorting more out.

    Good morning all,

And to sell anything that I've got that isn't being used, i.e. endless suits from Next, designer make up, wedding dress from when we got married 4 years ago, cross trainer that's hardly used etc.
    [threadbanner]box[/threadbanner]

Oh I desperately want a cross trainer but daren't spend the money.

My mum and I agreed that tomorrow we are going through all our cupboards, respective lofts and garages and get a great big pile of stuff to go on ebay at the next free listing.

We've got about 40 :o pairs of shoes and boots (I say we...i mean me:o); hundreds of books; clothes. I've also put in all the bath sets/moisturisers/bathroom junk i got bought for Christmas in the pile. I appreciate the sentiment behind buying it, but I never use any of it :(

OOPs didn't realise this was an old thread.

    Hi svb!

Sounds like a good idea to me!

I've got loads of books I need to finish reading before I get any more. Stationery in general's a bit of a problem, in fact...

I've also got a few sets of toiletries that I could finish off before buying any.

Aaaannnnd need to sort through my craft projects and knitting yarns and do something with them!!

The cleaning stuff's ringing a bit of a bell too...

I'm going to do a mega-clearout this year. (2011, that is not 2010! :rotfl:) It's mostly books. Maybe I should sell some :(

ETA: Would a "ditch it in 11" thread be a good idea?

Sounds good to me too! I am trying to do a major declutter as the house I'm in is being sold and a) I have to get it looking nice to sell and b) I want to get rid of stuff I don't need/want so I don't have to pay to move it to a new place.

So far I've been able to freecycle a lot - perfumes I didn't want, shampoos, excess Christmas decorations. bits of furniture, old TVs. Have also got rid of clothes, books and other bits and pieces to charity shops.

And I've started using the fancy shower gels that I had been saving (what for???). I have enough to last me a couple of years I reckon!

But there is lots more to go! I've started a worksheet in my budget spreadsheet listing stuff I've got to find homes for.

My plan is I will only keep what I know to be useful or believe to be beautiful (and have room for!).
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!
