Have just rejoined MFW and am catching up with some of the diaries.

You've made so much progress, well done! We are just starting to overpay again, but it will be by pretty small amounts. :-)

Hi WBL ...I've just finished reading your diary ...you really are an inspiration!! Congrats on baby no 4!!

All those overpayments have really added up for you ....I really like the idea of the mortgage pig too!! am definitely going to invest in a penny pig to save in any pennies we manage to save throughout the week!!
I'm a long way down the road from you...still trying to clear unsecured debt but your story is similar to mine in many ways...mortgage 168k plus a buy to let one too..

I've subscribed to read the rest of your journey in earnest....I'm hoping you'll keep me motivated! :)

  • Hi Joanne..thats weird that you were reading my diary on here...i only subscribe to a few diaries and yours is one of them! I came across it a few months ago and felt i had a lot in common with you...i also read amberle and fae's diary aswell. Yuu have made great progress too :j:j
Its definately a long slog but we will all get there in the end..i went through a stage for a couple of years being really obsessional about the mortgage and then i completely lost interest for a while and now i am somwhere in between..i am hoping that this stage will last ;)

  • OH has finally cancelled his mobile phone contract :j:j:j:j. He has a work phone now that he can use for all personal calls and i have been nagging him to do this for 6 months. So we will now be another £17.25 per month better off :D. If only i could convince him to reduce our sky package that is £62 per month...i honestly cannot see what all the fuss about sky hd is . The grocery shopping has went a bit haywire recently but my store cupboard is full so think i can get away with spending about £40 this week.
I am itching for the next mortgage payment to go out on the 28th and for pay day so i can make an overpayment. :j
On the negative side my car that is 12 years old is playing up, i have a feeling the clutch is about to go...its going to the mechanics tomorrow evening so will know more then. If it is the clutch i think i might just get rid of it and drive our family car. This car sits in the drive most of the time but the problem is it so much dearer to run as it is an MPV....and i really hate spending money on diesel.
Hope everyone had a good weekend

Is that just for TV or broadband / phone too?

Have you called them and pleaded poverty? I put my cancellation in recently, told them I couldn't afford it any more. A week before I was due to be cut off, they called and offered me TV for 1/2 price for a year.

I now pay about £25 for Entertainment Extra, Movies and Sports. No HD in my package but they would include it if required.

If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.
  • Hi LGP yes thats just for the tv ..no broadband or phone rental> I have done the whole cancellation thing recently with them and got half price for six months, so i will wait another couple of months and then try it again!

Another mortgage payment has cleared and we are now in the £131's....£131706 to be exact. Need to work out how much we can afford to overpay this month. Even though i have paid off my student loan the payments are still coming out of my wages...i need to phone up and find out what is happening but at least it will be money owing to me at some stage.
Am due to finish work in about 7 weeks to start maternity leave and am hoping that i will have a bit more time to focus on the moneysaving when i am off.
