Guess what?! I bought a new iron :D My old one was a cheapy one when I bought it 11 years ago and it's never been that good so I have been looking at getting a better one. Went to Mr S today and they had several at half price so I have a nice new one which should make my ironing quicker and easier :D

    Lynne, galdriel - welcome

gnb - oh no; hugs! How come you have to sell them?!

vanilla - hope your water is sorted

    jinky - hugs

L-L - hugs and prayers xx

greenbee - welcome home; hope the drive was ok

    taffy - welcome back

valli - I've been to Budapest if you need any info

Going to see if there's something I can watch tonight whilst doing some ironing ...........

    That is so funny! :rotfl:

    And to quote Soappie ...

It is, I believe, short hand for a phrase that begins with a knob and ends in a head...

Can't believe you dragged that up :rotfl:

Valli, huge hugs love... it's not your fault you know - and the kids will realise that one day.

    Greenbee - welcome home

Another couple of thousand words have been decluttered from my head onto virtual paper. I am now decluttering a bit of Gordon and then need to think about food. More turkey I suspect!

Poppy, do you think he will come back with his tail between his legs?
If he does, she needs to give him a good hard kick just to make sure :D

Poppy - if your DD reckons you're better off without him, then you probably are. Her opinion of him is likely to be more accurate than most peoples'. Think of it as an opportunity to do all the thinks you wanted to but couldn't, and make sure he knows that you're getting on and enjoying your life.

I've done some reading, eaten cold turkey because it's too cold still to cook (house is slowly defrosting!) and I CBA to do anything anyway (after the last few days, who needs food anyway!).

Fire is going nicely with the lovely small, dry logs my dad gave me. He's filled up a large plastic dustbin and a whole lot of dog food sacks, so I can keep them all on the patio and hopefully relatively dry. I'm hoping to get a log basket, small ash can and coal bucket for my birthday. If not, I'll be off shopping straight after!

Thanks for all the reminders about tax returns... I meant to sort out my paperwork ages ago but didn't get round to it. I will try to remember to get it done in the next couple of weeks, as I've just had a new tax code through which doesn't make any sense.

Suppose I should have an early night with a book, and try to get things properly sorted (including getting in touch with people and getting my social life sorted!) tomorrow.

I have just read this story

    http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/4822594.Dumped_at_Dorset_tip_____three_tonnes_of_pies/

I am hopping mad. Particularly with the following statement

....Kerry Foods, said the pastries needed to arrive at stores with at least eight days before sell-by dates expired...

!!!!!! - they could have been given to a homeless hostel or charity, or just distributed somewhere. EIGHT DAYS before the expiry date? It's not even like they were about to go out of date!!!! That's a declutter too far in my view.

  • Hi toots:hello:
Yes we still have snow. Very heavy frosts overnight so nothing thawing. Most roads are 'black' but the pavements are hard packed icy
Didn't get far through the list, but have finished sewing the binding to a lap quilt for a friend (very belated graduation present) so can get that in the post tomorrow. :T

I'm back to trying to decide whether to carry on with my OU course or not. :o

Good to have you 'home' greenbee
