  • Hi spendtoomuch - welcome to the boards - I joined in August and it has been really good, before I joined I froze when the phone rang, or when the post lady walked down the drive, but now i dont have to feel that way - still very early days for me and did slip up recently but i just started a new diary for hopefully a new start :-D xx

  • hi Moneytroubles, just posted on your diary before I knew you had posted on mine! I hate post and phone ringing too, behind on Littlewoods and they keep phoning. Am hoping to settle that one by end of March but don't know if they will accept smaller payments until then. I need to take the bull by the horns and ring them but I sooo hate them!! They just keep saying th APR will be 39.9% if I make smaller payments and that payments will still be higher than I can afford. Not sure if promising full payment by end of March will help or not??? The best of luck with your debt busting, you can do it, keep posting x
  • I was with littlewoods before and they changed to very which is 44.9% i managed to knock this down abit with "PADDING" although over the xmas period I have stuck to minimum payments.

Yesterday Barclays rang me asking me for my payment - I was like its boxing day :o - no rest for the wicked eh!

My main concern is my mortgage as im in arrears due to going part time at work to go to uni and student finance cocking up, they are aware of my circumstances and are lovely to talk to but it still eats me up abit - hoping to get upto date in Jan * fingers crossed *

    xxx

  • I cannot believe they rang you on boxing day!!! I kinda think that if Littlewoods send mine to legal I will be able to pay it before they can do much (end March). Not ideal but its the way I am looking at it. Did they transfer you to Very then because you were in arrears?? x
  • I know - the bloody cheek! The company just rebranded, when i originally started it was called lx direct, then it changed to littlewoods, and now its very, not sure why to be honest? Although once i started hammering the payments they increased my money and i have now have £2100 pound to spend - lucky me... dont worry i wont be taking them up on their generous offer lol xx

  • Good luck on your new diary spendtoomuch. I agree with you about the catalogues.......I'll never use one again.......Littlewoods was the worst!

I was 40 in October.....its a great excuse to have a huge party!

I also tried growing my own veggies this year............the tomatoes did very well, but not my peas.....nobody told me you don't grow peas in a greenhouse........next year I'll know better!
    Total debt at LBM £26k+
    Total debt now £16,494.40
    Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £0
  • I don't think you are crazy at all, I will be looking out for things all year now to put away. I never got into any further debt for xmas this year either, first year ever!! I am starting a savings account for next year as we have just found out at work that they are stopping our bonus in December which is £750, gutted! x
  • Hi Snowdonlily, prob won't have a party as not my thing but mum and sister have paid for me to go to London to see Sister Act and stay over and I have a friend going too. I grew toms (they were not brill), peppers, butternut squash (very easy) and some pumpkins too. I will be more organised next year and try some other things out - could do with a greenhouse but with 3 boys and footballs that might be a bad idea!!! Better luck with the peas next year, I would have done the same!
