I could be wrong Sara but I think it is a lower spec than the Samsung for more money.

For example, it is an AMD Athlon chip at 1.2GHz versus the Samsung's Dual Core Pentium running at 2GHz.. There are also some othe features the Samsung has which the Acer doesn't, such as webcam.

Thankyou for that, you were right! I assumed that the ACER had the Dual Core Pentium as the review on Which? had indicated and also a webcam. I had simply copied the model code from the which? website and searched for it! assuming as it was the exact model, and would have everything indicated by the review!

Just to say I managed to swap the ACER for the Samsung and apart from some slight issues with updates on Windows 7 it seems to work fine.

I don't understand why everyone wants laptops - give me a tower any day. If you want to connect peripherals whats the difference? Lots of people having had PCs for a few years, filled them with junk, spyware, viruses, then complain that they're slow. A properly maintained PC should last most people a good few years, then add some memory, reinstall the os. If you learn a bit about your PC - you can save a lot of money.
I do have a laptop and a netbook (and an Ipod Touch) cos I'm a gadget freak and do a fair bit of travelling. I love my 5 year old PC.

I too got one of these, very happy with it and it comes with 64Bit Windows 7.
  • If you want to risk this dubious looking retailer

They have a mindblowingly cheap high-end laptop
£600 is WAAAAY too cheap for a Core 2 Quad Q9000, 9800M GTX, 2 drives, (Primary SSD, 2ndary HDD).

I don't think you could build a desktop PC of the same spec. for less than that!!
Strange thing is, nothing else in their shop appears to be particularly cheap. Maybe it's a misprice.

wow this likes an amazing deal ... has anyone ordered it ? is it any good ?

Please don't buy ADVENT laptops. They are useless.
The ones that are on sale are laptops that have been returned because of defects. I bought 1 last yr and it was a total waste of money. The laptop shuts down when it heats up which happens very frequently. The currys helpdesk is next to impossible to access as well. AVOID ADVENT LAPTOPS

Totally agree with you! They have the highest spec for the lowest price but WILL BREAK! learnt the hard way.... twice!
  • Hi
Brought mine before xmass had no problems used it loads . I also found when speaking to the man in currys found them the most helpfull did not try to sell me than I needed or wanted to pay.

  • I bought a lap top from Aldi ..Medion brand. To me its a no brainer because they come with a 3 year guarantee, something based on my previous ownership of a Sony Vaio I now regard as essential!

6 months on i'm delighted with it.
