Which netbook - Asus, Toshiba or Samsung?
Comments

I've been considering 2 of those and another samsung 1 - the n130 which seems very similar to the nc10 but i think it looks a bit nicer and the trackpad looks bigger. The camera is worse though and it doesnt come with a case like the nc10 does.
I think the main advantage of the asus one is the longer battery life. The samsungs only claim 6 hours but the asus says 8.5 or 10.5.
I'm unbelievably indecisive about these kind of things.0 -
The direct replacement to the NC10 is the N140.
I had a NC10 for a month or so, and found after a while that the screen(as with the other netbooks) is just too small for my eyes and causing me strain, and I also preferred a bigger screen, as too much scrolling was required due to the small screen on websites. Also struggles with HD content.
My 11year old nephew used it as well, and hated the small screen and much prefers a laptop. So don't really understand all this rage about Netbooks, other than that are cheap and small but I found them uncomfortable to use.
Came to the conclusion that anything under 13" isn't worth it personally. Horses for courses I suppose.0 -

When travelling with restricted hand-luggage (eg strictly one bag, no more than 5 kilo, with flythomascook) a net book is infinitely preferable to lugging around a laptop - but I agree, in the home a laptop is much easier on the eyes.
I am going even smaller this year as I'm getting an ipod touch for my next trip - but I'll still take the NC10I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Millionaire thats same problem i found and the main reason i'm replacing the
NC10. Wish someone would see my post and offer some advice lol...;)0 -
Thanks for all the advice - I read on another thread that you should have a look in the shop first so I popped into Carphone Warehouse today and saw the NC10 (which looks really cute) and the Toshiba (which I thought was quite ugly). I just need to find the Asus somewhere.
Thanks so much for the Bennets link Pete*G - that is a great price and they do Quidco as well! I trawled so many websites looking for the best prices but you topped them. That's why I love this website.
I have a Samsung already (Q320) with 13.3in screen, but it is just too heavy to lug about all day, and without the power cord the battery only last 3 hours max, so the netbook will be great for carrying around uni.0 -
Is the NC10 not an old model - i got a NC140 for my daughters Christmas, but thought i'd read that the nc10 was replaced by nc110 and the 140 was better again.
Perhaps i got that wrong
The NC10 is an old model but it has almost universally good reviews, and the newer ones are more expensive. The other new model is the N130, but I looked at it today and it looks cheaper and less attractive than the NC10, I think.0 -
Sorry quick question Catch 22 - which cashback site does Debenhams electricals come under? On quidco it excludes laptop purchases and I can't see anything on topcashback.0

Couldn't see anything concerning cashback not applying to laptops. Is it not apart of debenhams? Sorry if I got it wrongcatch220 -
LOVE my Samsung NC10 ... :j
I use it for travelling (keeps luggage allowance / space low) and can still take various accessories and cables with. Great battery life. Also take it to work for client meetings etc - just plug into the nearest large screen !
But do remember, with all Netbooks, the screen and keyboards are small, and there is no Optical drive. It is not as easy as a full size laptop - but serves a great purpose.
I'm sure there are newer models now, but I reckon Samsung in general have got it right.0 -
Thanks for your help I've decided to go with the Samsung NC10 offer from Debenhams. What a great price!0
