Which netbook - Asus, Toshiba or Samsung?

I'm looking to buy a netbook before the VAT increase and I've narrowed it down to three models - all under £250, but I'm not sure which one to go for.

1. Asus EeePC 1005HA Seashell , which you can get with
- Atom N270, 8hr battery (£232.99 at Amazon or £229 at Dabs after 4% cashback with Quidco)
- Atom N280, 10hr battery, bluetooth - £248 after cashback at Dabs)
2. Samsung NC10 - £249 at Dabs plus 4% cashback comes to £239

3. Toshiba NB200-13L (N280 processor, v long battery life according to some reviews) - £239.99 at Amazon.

Anyone have any advice, I can't decide which one to go for?

Thanks!

I can't help you with your choice but the NC10 is available with Debenhams for £219

    Also 4% via cashback sites.

I got the NC10 last year for travelling with - I liked it so much that this year I have treated myself to its big brother the 522, to replace my old Dell Inspiron.

Great machines, and Samsung support is good too.

Toshiba, no. Toss up between the Asus and Samsung: I'd probably go for the Samsung but in a different flavor ;)

    Samsung N510

I love my Samsung NC10 and use it for hours every day . Long battery life and reasonably size keyboard.

  • Is the NC10 not an old model - i got a NC140 for my daughters Christmas, but thought i'd read that the nc10 was replaced by nc110 and the 140 was better again.
    Perhaps i got that wrong

We've got an Asus eeePC 1000H as a music server in the gym, they're a cracking bit of kit. We paid £199.99 about 3 months ago in Bennetts Electrical.

Keep looking, there's better offers than the one's you've posted, especially on the high street :)

the eeePC 1005 you've mentioned is only £229 at Bennetts for example, and that's WITHOUT any voucher codes etc or haggling instore ;)

  • Samsung NC10 is considered the best netbook of them all and has the best performance. The Asus 1000H (and only the 1000H, not HA or HE) has the best sound but the mother of all annoying keyboards due to the extremely small right shift key but the 1000HE keyboard fits it and many people take that route.

However, a new breed are set to come out based on the nVidia ION chipset which will give far better video performance, something that most netbooks suffer from when playing back flash movies such as Youtube etc.
