It's the holiday season, when the drink flows freely, and the trolling is worse than usual

Of course, Dave, but you're not referring to me, are you? ;)

I feel sad reading this. Makes me want to hide TBH and I am not really the 'hiding type'.

Every post is a contribution to the board, it doesn't have to be right or wrong nor judged really, but personal attacks just kill off the spirit.

Some of us own, some of us don't. Some of us (though I think I may be the only one) do both ;-)

Some of us can fly high in our careers and earning power at any point in our lives and, it only takes a random event to pull it away from under us....and then to go back up again.

The thing that really winds me up on this board sometimes is the Hubris, the 'I am alright Jack...cos I am sooo smart'' type of posting. I have been not alright and amazingly alright throughout my working/personal life so far.

I am 46 with grown up kids.

I know people my age who are worth many millions ( and are as miserable is sin; emotionally) , likewise, I have long standing friends who have had it good (because they were smart and clever and hardworking and lucky and...) and now, it's not so good.

Perhaps people put other people down because it makes them feel better?

    Bizarre.

I think there's only one of you, and you've refrrained from posting personal and abusive attacks on others, so you're in the clear. :A

People can go two ways when they've had a few, but I'm happy to say I always go the 'laugh too much and say/do stupid things' way. As a teenager, it amazed me that me that a few bevvies might make some friends go down the alternative 'I wanna fight the entire world' route.

For a start, alcohol isn't cheap; if that's what it did to me I'd want my money back!;)

To Davesnave; BTW..I am planning A Road Trip end of the month (weather permitting) to visit my oldest friend down your way...and pop into LIR's ...just to say hi and for a go on the horse (the non biting one). She (my friend) didn't pop in @ Xmas (her family live near me) and so I need to go dig her out :D.

Anyway, I think you may be en route...I am not a werewolf (promise) so I will PM you nearer the time....cos I will need to use the loo and have a an MSE caffeine moment (proper cup of tea rather than Little Chef rubbish tea @ £2.50) and I can say hi to you and your wife at the same time....don't say your tea and loo services are £5.:o

Nooooo, they're free, so long as the pipes to the septic tank aren't frozen up and there isn't a dead fox in the well......:rotfl:

Look forward to that. If you PM I'll send you a link to my web page, which will make identifying the hovel a bit easier.;)

You have to pay transaction costs anyway - whether properties rise or fall in price! And you have to pay stamp too, providing the property is over £250k - which most properties are these days!
Only if you're posh. Not everywhere. In most parts of the country you can still get a selection of houses from £150k-£250k; in some areas you just have to be not so picky.

I regularly (about 6x per day) eye up lovely houses at £160-£200k.

Flipping heck. You don't read the Houses forum for a bit and then when you come back it's full of people bragging how rich they are and making nasty personal comments about other posters. I remember when this board was funny and helpful.

Also, the standard of sock-puppetry has really dropped. Please make at least some small effort to make your posts sound different - a few spelling errors, use an accent, fake moustache - something. I may have to post on the Vent board about it if it doesn't improve.

I agree with you about the standard of sock-puppetry of late - the standard has definitely dropped!:rudolf: It shows a total lack of respect for the board members intelligence not even trying to disguise oneself!
