Had a very strange sort of day yest, my DF of 40 odd years came to visit. Now normally we see each other intermittently and when we are together it is as if we saw each other just yest but it was different this time. The conversation was really awkward and stilted and after OH had had given her a lift back home he said it was like pulling teeth! Am really upset about it, I kept having to try to find things to talk about and that just isn't like us at all! I know she sometimes suffers from depression and am wondering if she is going back into it. When we don't see her she tends not to answer my phone calls, texts and emails and will only see you when she wants to but she has always been a bit of a loner so I accept that and just keep in touch and wait for her to respond, but this time it has been harder than ever to get in touch with her. But she rang me christmas morning and when I asked her if we would see her at all over christmas it was her idea to come over yest. OH now thinks that I have done everything I can to be her friend and that she is never there for me when I need someone to talk to and should back away now but we have been friends since starting at high school and in the past have been there for each other through some bad times so I don't want to give up on our friendship! Not sure what to do now.

Hugs Nic. My OH is like that. Havent met up with them since May 2008 and they dont tend to answer my communications either. They always reckon they dont recieve any cards or parcels etc I send but I am not sure if this is the case. I know one year I gave their parents an M&S tea and coffee etc hamper as I felt bad that they bought me something for Xmas the year before and last time I was there I was searching for some of my stuff that I'd left there that their mum had moved tidying up and found the packets.

I have no issues with them being a loner but on the other hand I think it is illmannered neither to stay in touch nor reply . I know they may be very busy with a high pressured long houred job but manners costs no money and little time.I have met their parents many times and know it is not becuase they have been badly brought up with no manners, just seems like ignorance to me.

Ps is it odd that I am jealous of anyone with leftovers and want to go there for dinner? ONly Xmas dinner I got was one @ the Wetherspoons a coupla days before with a mate using some LVouchers and they dont give even my small appetite enough for Leftovers.

Hope you all had a great Christmas.

    Hi all,
Had a lovely Christmas Day,DB and family went home around 12.30 yesterday, and then we just flopped and didnt do much apart from read, watch telly and eat leftovers (sorry Reverbe !) I've frozen the rest of the turkey and also made broth, which we've just eaten. We've got curry for tea later-not turkey though!

We've not got much on till Tuesday when some friends come over from Yorkshire before our football match, then Wednesday our nephews are coming with their dad from Leeds,so I'm doing a bit of a buffet lunch.

Anyway-time to hit the sofa again :D

Take care all,and hugs to those who need one.xx

i have been on this website ALL DAY!!! My OH came home from work at 10.30 and was back in at 3, so he needed to get some sleep and the quietest thing I could think to do was read this forum! I discovered the relationships etc thread today!!

Since he went to work I have had a go on my new Wii :D

    My plans for the evenings:-

    1. Dry laundry
    2. Cook turkey soup from left overs/bones
    3. Clean kitchen
    4. All to be done for 9pm to sit down with glass of wine, box of chocs, and watch The Holiday on ITV1 (bliss...)

    Hello all,

Wouldn't dream of taking down tree before 6th January (Twelfth Night), know that there is a superstitious streak somewhere in my makeup!

All guests gone....DD1 to Cork at all hours as she has work to-day, DSIL1, DDIL1 and DGD2 left around 3.30 after an early dinner here....leg of lamb which was lovely, trouble is there is enough to last OH and me for at least 3 dinners...have frozen 3 dinners worth of turkey and carcase is on for soup.

'Funny' feel to Christmas for me this year, not sure what I mean, just couldn't get into the swing of things at all, wanted to be away from it all...not like my normal way so don't know what's afoot.....maybe old age grumpiness is catching up with me!

Getting ready to plan my 2010 spending, or lack of it, need to do a new budget as income has changed, there are now only 2 of us so I need to adjust food spending to fit.

Hugs to all who are in need or want of one, thank you all for being my friends

  • Good afternoon guys and gals :0)
I haven't been on much in the last week, have been so disorganized this year have been running around like a blue youknowwhat fly for the run up to xmas.
My cooker packed in 5 days before the big day!....Lovely! Luckily my wonderful father came to my rescue and bought me a new one that arrived on Christmas eve! It is that sparkly and new i keep just standing and looking at it :0) amazing how the simple things please.
Christmas dinner with the ex hubby and the kids was alot less strained than expected and the kids managed not to argue or be bored for one whole day!
Not much old style happening at the moment but am putting pen to paper to get back on the wagon in the new year.
Hugs to any in need and a huge thank you to all for being there to hear my rants through 2009.

    Leigh xx

    Good evening all

Very late posting today. It's been one of those days.

Last night I fell and hurt my ankle, so have been hobbling about today. It's slightly swollen but not too bad.

Anyway, I had one of those 'let's be productive' moments, today :D and decided the kitchen cupboards need sorting out  Why do you always regret starting something when you're in the middle of it

I don't have the energy to do it all in one day, so will make a note of what needs doing here, then will copy onto the next day's thread, if no-one minds. Hopefully that will stop me forgetting about it all :o

I don't do too much in the way of cleaning, as I have someone to take care of the main stuff, plus DDs do their share, but I get an attack of guilt every so often, so the cupboards are my task, for now.

    To do:

    [STRIKE]Tall cupboard.[/STRIKE] Haven't done very top, though.
    [STRIKE]Wall cupboard.[/STRIKE] Haven't done very top, though.
    Art cupboard.
    Side cupboard.
    Bookcase.
    3 work units.
    Mobile unit.

I also want to stock take food supplies, ready for meal planning in the new year.

    [STRIKE]Wall cupboard.[/STRIKE]
    Fridge.
    Freezer.
    Work unit.

I don't actually have much energy left after tackling the two cupboards, and one would probably have been enough, but it's done now. I'm not thinking about all the cupboards in the rest of the house though :D

Hope everyone else has had a good day.

I'm just waiting for DDs to finish dishes, then I'm going to make cake and custard  I deserve it :D

    evening all!

just back from my 11 hours at work! its really not as bad as it sounds as we had a nice day - I took one service user shopping for clothes and later we watched tv. Another service user came back from his mums and unwrapped a box of Roses and ate the lot in one go - we couldn't get the box off him:D so we all joined in and ate some of the other choccies as there's always tons there at christmas.
Back in again tomorrow for 10 hours this time.

I spoke to Janets sister and there is no change in her condition but Jan did manage to text me at teatime to say she had had been given 3 lots of blood and has lost over 2 stone in about 3 weeks but was praying they would let her home before 2010! I am hoping to go and see her in a couple of days.

DH has done all the jobs at home:j he's back to work tomorrow at an indecent hour(1.30am) so is now in bed.

Halight - glad the little one is ok x

Redruby - I cant wait to get my decs down either just not got time to do it yet. Lovely pics of your dog on FB by the way.

off for a surf now and to catch up with my scrabbling

    TTFN x
