OS Daily thread - Sunday 27th December

Options
HSsnowmen.gif Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 27th December! It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Mioliere - I have that CD on my 'to buy' list with the money my father sent me, it has several of my favourite poems on it.
nmlc - Hope you are having a great time at your mums and that your Dad is doing well.
Noahs - I adore it.. absolutely gorgeous and THIS is my fave stationery range - I buy the cards, use the diary and gift bags etc etc.. Have one of their huge cards framed as a friend used one as my birthday card this year and it was so stunning. I think your wedding dress sounds fab, I already love your sexy shoes!
Sistercas - Great way to feed your Captain Jack obsession!!
Dazi - You sounded very 'zen' during your day, well done you!
Donny - I think Ali was bound to win, I agree with your hubby but I loved Rachels Rumba far more.
Legal - Well done on such an MS Christmas, but I wouldn't have gone without my Turkey breast!
Crawley_girl - Lovely to see you posting with us!
SunnyGirl - OMG I love Angel!! And Buffy - and Trueblood but the Twilight series seems a bit wet and wimpy to me in contrast..
Taplady - I am so sorry to hear about Janet.hugs.gif

xmastree.gif Not much OS iness going on today apart from a bit of housework and cooking. Have to find the ironed table cloth to replace the Christmas one and get the washing machine on. Will lay the table up nicely but with just a white cloth and Christmas napkins this time.

xmastree.gif We have the inlaws coming over today but might have the rest of the ham and turkey rather than the beef joint as my OH fancies having all the beef to himself another day.giggle.gif There isn't much turkey left after freezing so much and also having a big meal of it yesterday with bubble and squeak. It's the first time my OH has ever cooked bubble and squeak after telling me he hated it and never letting me cook it for him, but he really liked it and was exceedingly proud of it!

I hope everyone has a good day today. With love and light and happy vibes for all,

  • Morning MSD & all to follow

Hope you have a nice day with the inlaws MSD.

We too are having the last of the leftover turkey today and will be having a little Xmas dinner for the 4 of us. After all the stress and rushing around I don't get to enjoy the one on Xmas day.

Had a lovely chillaxing day yesterday, so today am going to attack the washing and ironing piles from hell - have lots of stuff sky+d so hopefully wont be too bad.

May pop into our little town to see if M&S in open, I know its not OS but I bought their turkey gravy for Xmas day and it was delish. Hope there is 1 left for today!

Havn't caught up on the thread lately, so hope you have all had a nice Xmas and are healthy, (((hugs))) for anyone who needs one.x

Good morning Diva & Essex Girl.

We're also having turkey today :D We had some sandwiches from it yesterday so have done well really :T

Had a lovely day with our friends yesterday we didn't stop talking & laughing all day. The children all floated in and out (my friend has a DS 14) and did their own thing so it was nice & relaxing. Todays plans are to iron and then knit :rotfl: A friend of DD's saw her pom pom scarf and rushed out to buy me some wool to knit her one!

Have a good day all & keep warm.
  • Morning all
DS1 & DDIL2b are visiting today, I think I'll do roast beef for lunch.
I shall also start the washing again, it's been on hold for the last few days. I might also do some ironing that's been hiding in the cupboard for the last couple of weeks.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning All

I think my cold may finally be starting to lift - don't feel so headachey this morning :j

My Living Room and Kitchen are total bomb sites! Katie got some big toys (bike, rocking horse, pram) and along with the rest of her toys there's not much living room left! I'll leave them out for another day or so for her to play with and just suffer the mess! I'm tempted to tackle the kitchen today but I really don't know if I have the energy - this cold has really flattened me! I'm not expecting any visitors and it is clean - just messy.

Need to meal plan today - I have two weeks before we are getting a new kitchen fitted and we have to have everything out of the kitchen including appliances and I have no idea where everything is going to go or how I am going to manage to feed everyone for a week..... but in the meantime I need to run down my freezer and storecupboard and use the left overs - I seem to have loads of cheese!

I think lunch will be bacon and cheese toasties and dinner left over roast beef with mash or roasties and some frozen veg or tinned sweetcorn. DS-D is back from her mums today and she got a smoothie maker for christmas so I'm sure that will be getting used today at some point. She also got a smoothie recipe book and has made a list in her notebook of the ones she wants to make..the lists about 3 pages long!

I need coffee. Have a good day

It was a very exciting day yesterday - Mogs laid her first egg :j:D
    mogs%20hat.jpg

Mr tru is back to work today  The kids stayed at friend's houses last night, I doubt I'll see them til tonight so I'll catch up on the housework while the house is quiet.

My whole body feels bunched up - best way to describe it, lol - so I'll dig out my yoga dvd. Half an hour should do it :D Then I'm going to stretch out on the sofa with a notebook to meal-plan and sort out a budget for 2010.

    Morning all

SunnyGirl I did warn you about the scarves! My DD came home last night and told me 3 more people would like them:eek: I am never going to have time to learn to do anything else at this rate:D

Had a very strange sort of day yest, my DF of 40 odd years came to visit. Now normally we see each other intermittently and when we are together it is as if we saw each other just yest but it was different this time. The conversation was really awkward and stilted and after OH had had given her a lift back home he said it was like pulling teeth! Am really upset about it, I kept having to try to find things to talk about and that just isn't like us at all! I know she sometimes suffers from depression and am wondering if she is going back into it. When we don't see her she tends not to answer my phone calls, texts and emails and will only see you when she wants to but she has always been a bit of a loner so I accept that and just keep in touch and wait for her to respond, but this time it has been harder than ever to get in touch with her. But she rang me christmas morning and when I asked her if we would see her at all over christmas it was her idea to come over yest. OH now thinks that I have done everything I can to be her friend and that she is never there for me when I need someone to talk to and should back away now but we have been friends since starting at high school and in the past have been there for each other through some bad times so I don't want to give up on our friendship! Not sure what to do now.

Today we are using up leftovers again, like the rest of the country:D:rolleyes: Might go and have a look for a new suite (need one but not sure if can afford one - depends on sales) and then if the weather is not too bad might go across to see our friends in Manchester. Hope you all have a lovely day.

    x

Tru my DS loves the photo of mogs in her xmas hat:rotfl:well done to her on her egg:T DS would love some chickens after staying at a farm cottage and collecting the eggs everyday:cool:. I would love some too but no room at the mo:o
Thriftladythanks for recommending yet another book:o;)on the Ministry of food thread:p. My new years resolution is to get all cookery books from the library first to see if I will use them. I got Pioneer woman book from Amazon and didnt like it at all, not as good as her website and I wish I`d borrowed it first.....however did borrow Leiths Baking bible and ended up buying it:rotfl:. Anyway in return, I recommend A year at an Italian table by Mary Contini:p( get your purse out:rotfl::T)
Nic it does sound like your friends depression is there again. i suffer from it too and if I try to cut back on my tabs this is exactly how I get, I have to force myself to speak to people and just want to hide away. It is awful and it doesnt happen to me much now thank the lord. i have a similar situation to you in that a friend of mine is keeping her distance and hiding away. I think she has depression but wont admit to it or accept it ( she has an autistic son too thats how we met). I have tried and tried to stay close but she shuts me away and I really feel i have done all I can but it is hard not to worry about her. I dont know what to suggest. Has she done this before? If you give her some space will she come back when she recovers a bit? do you know if she is on meds of any sort?
