Hi Magoogy
When posting just take a breath and then explain in your post whats happening, It may be that you just need to enable active X in IE or it maybe that IE has a problem, It wont have anything to do with windows validation. (me thinks)
Can you explain a tad more please or even put a link to the site wharer this problem occurs, cheers.0 -
Actually... there has been reports of Messenger 8 and IE7 as well as media player 11 playing up when the invalid windows message is recieved.. Its all to do with the genuine advantage program and its supposed to "decay" the install of certain programs over time. Its because you need to validate these before installing and they still check after install. It was reported on the messenger live beta site at first.
Are you using any of these programs??0 -

But with Windows, how would that make a difference

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files folder is where it's stored.
Sometimes it can get corrupted usually by spyware apps.
Check in there and see if it's empty.0 -
The person was asking why ActiveX was not installed or running. If IE7 is indeed using a decay method then it will slowly stop working. The same with Messenger not accessing hotmail. This was never confirmed but a few people on the beta board definately had problems when the genuine error started appearing. It might just have been coincidence. Thats why I asked if the user was using any of the programs.0
