Help me - I got some Gok Hey Gorgeous stuff for Chrimbo and I love it. The set is down from £40 to £18 in Boots. Argh. I don't need it!

Use the Force, Caroline, Use the Force! (or offset it by selling something you don't like quite as much:rotfl:)

    hi guys,

Well, the shock of my spreadsheet showing quite how many toiletries I've got was enough to spur me into finishing a few things off voer the last few days!

However, I was givn a xmas present last night fo some mini molton brown toiletires - 8 bottles of approx 30ml each. OH has used a peppery one already, but i guess I should add the rest to my spreadsheet to keep track :-)

I'm going to earmark some goodies as gifts or sell on ebay and use the money to buy boring 'essentials' like toothpaste and sun protection for hols, as I'm seriously aiming for this challenge to be really money neutral this year until I run out of stuff. (have already been doing this for a year!)

Am also going to plan ahead for when I'm asked what I'd like for Easter/Mother's Day etc and use that opportunity to replenish my must-haves (P&P day and night cream for example).

Am also trying to be very MS and not use the products I've got wastefully, just because I've got a stash!

Everything I have is opened, except some Bare Escentuals stuff that I just bought before Christmas and I want that. I sold a lot last year that was unopened :( I'm still being good but the dark side is calling!

It would be really pants of me to fail on 'Official' day one!

    Hi All

I am so glad I found this thread. I only joined yesterday but having read the whole thread, I decided to spend my new years day morning going through my bank statements for last year, and I would say a good 70% of my purchases last year were in Boots :o

So... As well as using up the things I have, I intend to try and sell anything unused and of better quality on Ebay, to try and recoup some of dosh I have wasted, and will "recycle" some other bits as bday pressies etc.

To also make the "not buying any more..." part of this easier.... I have also told my hubby and DD what this thread is about and what I am trying to stick to.

They both think there's no way I will stick to it, which has spurred me on because I know that both of them will say "I told you so" if I do weaken and give in.

I am also avoiding the "Grabbit while you can" thread on here.

Right I am off to have a bath now, and to start to make a miniscule dint in my mountain of products. :j

    Hello!

I like the use of this challenge as I was already planning on being frugal with my toiletries buying. Here's the list I made this evening....(shamelessly copied and pasted from my diary thread!)

    Toiletries
    :o

Hmmm....I think it's a good thing that the Boots thread on Grabbit went away. I have an embarrassing amount of toiletries. This doesn't include the stuff I got in the S&G hatbox that I know I won't use and have hidden away to use in Christmas hampers.

    • Nivea Happy Time body lotion (Half price in clearance section in Boots)
    • S&G Heel Genius
    • S&G iFoam shower gel x 3 (In my defence it smells amazing and will last me ages. Honest.)
    • S&G mini shower gel
    • S&G Body Butter x 2
    • S&G Moisturising Mist
    • Hair mask (Huge tub of)
    • No 7 shower gel x 2 (Bought using £5 off voucher from Boots till spit)
    • Olay cleanser x 4 :o Another £5 off set of purchases. Think a couple of these might end up on Ebay to be honest
    • Dentyl mouthwash
    • Cleansing wipes
    • Toothpaste x 2
    • Shampoo x 2
    • Conditioner x 2
    • Deodorant x 3
    • Miscellaneous shower gels x 7 :o:o:o:o:o
    • Mr Fresian's shower gels x 4
I clearly need very little nothing at all until the end of the month and that should only be mouthwash. The list above doesn't even include everything sitting in the shower....shampoo&conditioner, hair mask, iFoam shower gel, S&G facewash, other shower gel.

Please help me avoid buying more things!!!

I still haven't managed to do my list yet... I haven't really moved from the sofa all day! Whoops. I WILL get there eventually.

For all you ladies who have opened or slightly used products you no longer want - you CAN still sell them on eBay. Popular brands will sell even when used, as long as there's still a decent amount left. Just make sure you make it clear in your listing that the product has been used.

I bought Benefit Posietint from eBay that had been opened and tried once or twice. I had no problem with it at all and saved about £10 on the RRP. :)

ETA: Apologies for the misinformation. Turns out opened cosmetics are okay but not used stuff. :o
