Can I pick you brains for a mintute? Im trying to think of what to give my kids nursery teachers on Tuesday (end of term up here). My dd is going into Primary 1 so its her last few days there, all the teachers have been fantastic. My OH is a teachers and I know how many 'Best teacher' mugs and boxes of choccies they will be getting, so I wanted to do something different.
I have 4 of them to buy/make for. I dont really have enough beads for any more mem wire bracelets. I was thinking wine bottle/glass charms and giving them on a mini bottle of wine or an organza bag. They would be cheap and easy to make. Im not sure if they would actually use them though.
Are any of you planning to make anything?
At xmas they always get a snow man soup each and love them but theyre a bit out of season lol.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Nic what about a keyring, you might not have enough beads for a full bracelet but might have enough for a bag charm or keyring?
Your necklace for the challenge is beautiful, well done! You can stand there and agonize........

I dont really have any keyring bits. I only have sliver chain, beads, headpins, charms and lobster clasps. I could maybe make a silver bracelet with a couple of beads and a silver charm. Ive also got wire and loads of Fimo but im not sure they would like a fimo cupcake or donut bracelet.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0

I made some fimo cupcakes yesterday - my first time making charms with clay!! I was quite pleased with the result and made a bracelet with them. They are on my blog if anyone would like to see. I've made a fimo cake tonight and sliced it up so will take photos of it tomorrow!
Some lovely makes on here and all so different. The E-mail of the species is more deadly than the mail.0 -
You are a lovely lot of people on here, so much encouragement & help is spread around.
I really like looking at your creations & whilst I may prefer some styles to others all the work is beautifully done. Well done to everyone.
I have struggled again to photgraph my challange entry. - **Note to self**Get some batteries & google how to take photos of jewellery.
Follow my homepage link to see them.
The jet beads were from necklaces that were bought by both of my Grandads for my maternal & paternal grandmothers, the smaller ones were from the poorer side of the family! No one had much money & the necklaces were the nearest they got to having good jewellery.
I made the jump rings & used 2 to a link as the beads are very heavy, I also made the silver art clay heart. The earings have silver clay discs that I've textured in kind of Victorian pattern.
To be honest, I think the beads are too heavy & I may decide to pull it apart and come up with something else but I do like making use of the beads.
I still have a surviving Grandma, she is 96 years old and although frail, partially sighted & heard of hearing, lives alone in her own home. She still is a bright as a button & is very happy the beads are being put to good use.
The beads remind me of how much my Grandmothers were loved by my Grandfathers, & I know they loved me, when the time comes, I'm hoping my daiughter will redesign them into something she can wear & keep the love going!0 -
