Your necklace and bracelet are fab too, I'm not suprised your Aunt liked them!
Thank you Kandi. I got the charms off ebay. Was a seller that looked like they were selling off their old stuff as it was all abit random. But Im sure if you search for them you will find other sellers too.0 -
Lovely necklace Giggles, and I love the bookmark.
Do I have to pick the person for next weeks challenge?0 -
Lovely necklace Giggles, and I love the bookmark.
Do I have to pick the person for next weeks challenge?
Thank you Yukkibear
Yes I think you have to pick. You could either pick a 'winner' for whatever reason and then they choose the next theme or pick someone randomly.
Ive already made time tomorrow to do my make hahaha0 -
I have just posted the necklace I've made for the challenge on my blog.
Once again I think everyone on here has really risen to the challenge and produced some fabulous makes, I love them all :T:T:T0 -
Hi all,
I've been making jewellery for the past 3 and half years. Went to a local, small college to learn the basics from a tutor but, to be honest, most of the good beading magazines out there could teach you the same. We started off with a basic tool kit of pliers (round-nose + flat-nosed) plus a good quality pair of cutters. If you use memory-wire do not use your normal cutters as this wire is very strong - you can get special cutters for memory wire. I tend to use a cheap pair out of our local Wilko store for the memory wire. We started off making bracelets + necklaces with tiger-tail wire - I taught myself how to make ear-rings as our tutor ignored all my pleas to make ear-rings! I've now probably made over 200 pairs..... Some of the sites I use for my stock are Beads Direct (they are brilliant), Mail Order Beads, Spoilt Rotten Beads (they also have patterns you can download). I also use E-Bay - Mad Cow Beads are also brilliant. It's also worth looking out for any local bead fairs - we get a lady from Wales who comes up to the Midlands and also the Beadworkers Guild hold Fairs. Be warned though - you do spend a lot of money as jewellery making is addictive! We are lucky to have a few bead shops within easy reach - Abacus Beads, The Bead Shop in Birmingham and one in Towcester. I love the fact you can make jewellery to match your favourite outfit - I made a necklace + ear-rings to match the dress I wore to a friend's daughter's wedding and a fellow guest actually asked me how on earth I'd managed to find just the right colour....... And, only today, I've had 3 comments on the necklace I was wearing.
Happy beading girls - if I can be of help to anyone with advice or patterns, please just yell!

Thanks Londonlass - where abouts in the midlands are these fairs?
I'm just getting into things and deciding what my first make should be - thinking memory wire - but not sure weather to put caps on the end or just curl 'round - which is best and which is the easiest, if caps what's the best glue - sorry so many questions!
Not thought of wire cutters from wilko - although my b/f prob has some
