Well my team were soundly beaten this afternoonand my boys spent the whole match looking really miserable:rolleyes: and the children in front of me kept flipping their seats up and perching on the upturned seat so that their heads were obscuring the play  Still me and OH enjoyed ourselves, I love a good shout at the rugby and dd quite enjoyed it too.
Just looking forward to cosying up to the telly with a bottle and one of the kids' DVDs0 -
Evening everyone. Happy Boxing day!
Glad you all seem to have had a lovely Christmas Day. Ours was really nice until the evening - having major hassles with DD and bedtimesShe didn't sleep all day and then woke at nearly 11pm and was up then til 1.30am this morning......DS then decided to wake twice so all in all I am fed up with the kids and their sleeping habits. Just had to leave DD to cry for an hour as she's started refusing to sleep unless she's cuddled  I hate it but it's the only way to get her out of the habit - she's been screaming.......not pleasant.
Anyway I have been lucky with the presents, a nice daisy necklace from the kids, Black Eyed Peas CD, book, smellies, Harry Potter DVD, new trainers and like Essex I've the the new Wii game Just Dance. Not one to try when the kids are about though
Xmas dinner was truly fab so thanks to my mum and dad who had worked so hard to put on a good spread :T Been packed off twice with food parces so no major cooking for me at the mo!
Anyway off to browse the web - perhaps check in tomorrow if I get chance.
Hugs to those that need them. Sweet dreamsI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Evening all and a merry Christmas and happy New Year.
Taplady, so sorry to read about your Aunt, im sure she will value your company and comfort at this time.
I don't normally come on the Daily Thread but lovely to read about how everyone's Christmas went.
It was just me dh, dd and my dad fr Christmas meal at mine-perfect! DD first christmas, was lovely watching her attemp to open her presents and looking slightly bewildered as to why things were a bit different and why she was having so many treats-priceless! What was more priceless was watching her tackle her first christmas dinner! It started off in her bowl and ended up all over the tray of her chair! She LOVED the veg though so hopefully that will carry on through her childhood, managed to shove a whole sprout in her mouth at one point which i had to remove!
Enjoyed having my dad for dinner as he lives alone and i worry but at leats i know he had a good meal and i sent him home with half the turkey!
Speaking of which still have tons left as against what should have been ,y better judgement got a biggish one so have tons of leftovers, think i will be taking more to my dads.
Poor dh has a terrible tooth ache so he didnt have much of his christmas dinner, he is still suffering but refuses to go to the walk in centre and get stronger painkillers, men eh! He isnt having much luck as his car brakes stopped working the other day whilst he was on motorway:eek::eek: about to exit onto slip road for our home and he somehow managed to cruise home using just handbrake as we are literally a 1 min drive from the motorway thankfully in one piece! Rang RAC as we have 'at home' cover but couldnt come for ages and as there would be no garages open on Christmas eve he is better ringing on Monday so they can diagnose the problem. Dh is excellent with cars and thinks he knows what is wrong-hope he is right else thats an expensive job otherwise!
Otherwise a quiet Xmas reall, just wondering now what to do with the mound of turkey i have in the fridge. As OS as i try to be even im stuck for ideas! Think i'll have to freeze some-can i do that when it was a frozen turkey to start with?

Happy Boxing Day everyone,
Did the River Cottage 3 courses from a goose yesterday and it was scrummy - although on the 24th dh and I were hysterical at the phallic shape of the stuffed goose neck - Hugh never warns you about that:eek:. We had friends over for dinner yesterday who are in their sixties and such good fun (dh and I are in our very early 40s) - couldn't help comparing them with MIL who is here, 10 years older than these friends and about 3 generations older in attitude. My parents are 70 and 75 and about 30 years younger than MIL as well.
We had words today - I had explained twice very carefully that apart from the crystal I wanted everything to go through the dishwasher because of the grease, nipped to Tesco for a loaf of bread and came back to find her washing everything in cold, greasy water:mad: She went through everything from tears to emotional blackmail but after 21 years I just don't do it anymore - and she knows dh is always on my side so eventually it was sorted.
The kids were delighted with everything - ds1 wasn't expecting anything as he'd had a new violin bow for birthday and Christmas and so was ecstatic with anything and ds2 was very happy with some lego and 2 books from the charity shop - they also got 2 Wii games costing £6 each, some Kendal mint cake etc
Cold beef and ham with HM chips, salad and pickles tonight - off to church tomorrow morning and then we have booked at the Indian tomorrow night - MIL wants to take us out and said she was happy to go anywhere:D
Rendered off 2 and 1/2 jars of goose fat today and made a crumble out of the last of the apple sauce. Goose stock is on.
Smaller dog cut his foot mousing on the 23rd - necessitating a general anaesthetic - and a return visit today and next Tues - still probably cheaper than a call out on Christmas Day if we'd left it.:rolleyes:
Hope everyone had a good Christmas!!“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
