Morning everyone - Happy Boxing Day
Well it has been a funny Christmas for us this year, as our real Christmas does not start until tomorrow when DS & GF arrive. We have left our pressie opening until then too, as we don't really do pressie to each other just bits and bobs. DH would get me anything if I would say what I wanted, if I know what it is I don't want it, daft I know, but we usually get anything we really want as we go along:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
Xmas eve my DNephew, wife and DGN&N came down and had a roast beef dinner with us, she lost her Mum in February and was not looking forward to the day. We usually called in the mornng, but asked if we could do our pressie taking for the DGN&N on Xmas Eve, so asked if they would like to visit us, it was a lovely afternoon/evening, which we all really enjoyed, and none of us had any alcohol, it was not needed. However, we sat down to the watch TV, and I couldn't keep my eyes open, so did make the midnight service we usually go to.
Xmas morning we went to DH's DNeice's to see her and her DH and the GNephews, her Sister, hubby, and DH's brother and SIL also go so it is a nice family morning, ended up with a couple of glasses of red wine on only a bowl of cereal, so came back and decided to have the cooked meal at tea time, and DH had a sandwich, I had a Scotch Egg (my treat) sat down to watch TV and promptly both fell asleep for an hour:rolleyes:. Maybe our early start:o. Cooked the pheasant we had in the freezer, and had enough veg left from the beef dinner, especially the cauli & brocolli cheese I had treat myself too, and had this just before Strictly, not too impressed with the pheasant, think it may have been in the freezer too long, so put it in the SC to get the meat off to add to some rabbit to make game pies later. DH blitzed the kitchen for me while Strictly was on, he made a prediction that no matter how anyone danced, the judges had decided Ali and Brian were going to win, while it may have been a flawless performance, enjoyed most of the others far more. I am busy kniting a hat for DS, who asked for one just a week ago, but had to finish a dynosaur and cardigan I was doing for DGNephew3, first.
This morning woke up at 6 and have stripped the meat off the phesant and have a large bag of it for the freezer. Cooked some fish pieces to make a fish pie for today, and got two bags of cooked fish ready for the freezer to make more pies. One of our best friends is coming, she is DS's godmother, and a old work colleague, she is 10 years older than I, and is blind, but we have the most giggles as she has a great sense of humour, we will call and see my Dad and thenpick her up just before lunch.
Right better get back to the knitting, hope you all have a good Boxing Day.
Take care DG

Morning All
Sounds like everyone had lovely days yesterday as did we.
Dinner was perfect - the turkey the best one we have ever had. Had my family over and we spent the afternoon playing my new Wii Game - Just Dance - hopefully we burnt off some of the Xmas calories.
Today DS & OH are off to watch Southend play - one of DS' pressies, so I am going to have a very chilled day watching Xmas telly eating leftovers.
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your Christmas.x0 -
Morning everyone
Hope you all had a great day yesterday.
Ours was good in parts, breaking down on the M40 was not one of the good parts:eek:
Breakdown man getting the car going again was
We had left at 6 o/c and were expecting to get to my daughters about 10, got there at 1.30 in the end, and my lovely parents put xmas dinner back so we could spend time at DDs, then on to parents and ate about 5.
I was very chilled (in more ways than one) when we broke down, resigned myself to going home on a transporter and rooting in the freezer for something to eat.
Was very tired last night and fell asleep on the sofa, great company aint I :rotfl:
Looking forward to the rest of my few days down with the family.
Enjoy your Boxing Day xxwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Morning!
I feel hungover today and the only alcohol I had was in the rum sauce! Nevermind I'm working tonight so will have a few hours in bed this afternoon after dd has been collected by granny.
I'm really hoping for a quiet night. If there is still some sherry left for the patients at teatime it might be-we gave them all a hefty measure (with drs permission!) on christmas eve and some of them were pretty tipsy and apparently they slept really well!!!!
I can't believe how much stuff dd got yesterday-we can hardly see the front room carpet and I'm really not in the mood for clearing it away today.
Tomorrow I'll be sleeping in the morning and then going to mums for our christmas dinner which'll be turkey. It was gammon and/or salmon on croute/veggie plait yesterday and the gammon was lovely but I'm really looking forwards to my turkey now.
I adore turkey, sausage and stuffing sandwiches with cranberry sauce so I have everything in the freezer ready to cook-probably tuesday-so that I can have them cold for the rest of the week!
Hope everyone has a good day.July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.

I love reading this thread. Hi Everyone! I totally agree with Donny on Strictly. Very proud of myself as not been on the computer for about 2 days except to get yorkshire pudding recipe yesterday afternoon....went out Xmas Eve for first time in my life and had a great time with OH, honestly if you saw it on tv you would think it was totally cheesy! Dancing in the snow, throwing snowballs, dancing in a club and home by 11
Yesterday was lovely got some amazing presents and much more than I expected. So proud of how well we did with presents for people - bargains and mince pies from the thread on here.
Dinner was Tesco £1.50 Turkey leg with all the trimmings and I must say it was gorgeous. Other years I have got a Tesco pre stuffed, prepared joint etc but from memory they were much richer than this, in a bad way. Someone on another post had said the leg wouldn't exactly be their Christmas centrepiece, but I stripped it and put it on the table on a plate and it was more than enough for both of us - still have some leg and might make soup with the bone
OH and I had a £50 strict budget and am really proud of us both how we made it stretch......one of his presents to me was loads of little minatures from Boots that were all pink - Ted Baker, face masks, Charlie pink perfume etc, they were so nice and such a surprise I was so proud of him I was like that is sooooooo MSE.
All day the one thing we had agreed was not to be on different PC/laptop/computer from each other so that's why I'm proud I resisted coming on here
Today he is working 8.30 - 5.00 even though he works in a pub!!! and then straight to parent's house. So I have decided to brave the sales.....got a voucher from work as xmas bonus, so going to get as much as I possibly can. So proud I kept it for ME and did not resort to buying over priced presents for others in a panic.Debt Free Wannabe by 1 January 2016

Morning all,
I do hope everyone had a good day yesterday, ours was interesting , we were invited to sisters for the day, lunch was to be at 1, I had done all the veg and was taking that with me, and I had cooked a turkey crown, and mum cooked some venison, sis is a veggie, so we always take the meat with us.
Turned up to sis at 12.30, no oven on and spuds still in the sack in the corner , Oh and I set to peeling spuds and parsnip, and got them in the oven quickly, and I ended up cooking the whole dinner for everyone, but the spuds would not crisp up so we eventually ate at about 3 .
We did have a good day though lots of fun was had by all, but I cant wait for next year, to be in my bigger house, and to 'do' christmas at my own place :T
I got some lovely gifts, a new camera, perfune from my lovely dd, a pashmina, slippers, bits for the new house, i am very lucky :T.
Off to sisters again today, just having mash cold meat and pickles, one of my favourite meals, shall probably peel the spuds when we get there :D.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning lovely people.
Hope eveyone had a lovely Christmas. My mum and dad and sister all gave me money yesterday to 'refresh' my kitchen! My friend is coming over shortly to help me. I hate decorating and not sure why I am planning on doing this today! Need to go empty the kitchen of kitchen stuff so that it is an empty shell. Hope everyone is doing something fun today
:heartpuls CG :heartpulsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
Morning all.....((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) if you need one.......
Bright morning and most of the snow and ice have gone. SIL has just been for the turkey they forgot to take yesterday, he walked the dog up here. He said they now had something for supper tonight!!! DD1 is at work this morning, the sale started Christmas Eve, they are expecting to be busy today, although she did say that out of 34 bays of Christmas decs there were only 4 left, so be quick if you want cheap decs for next year.
We are hoping to get out for a walk in a while. We have not been out walking for almost a week. I was not happy taking OH out in case he slipped, dizzies are bad enough without adding broken limbs to the equation thank you!!!
Very late waking up it was well past nine. We have breakfasted and I have had my usual 2 mugs of coffee, ready to face the day now. I was very tired last night after cooking for 4 and ending up with 6.
Nothing planned for today, we have plenty of cold meat and cheese, might do some soup at lunchtime, cold meat platter and salad tonight.
I have sent some of my 'thank you' emails, more to do later.Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0
