HSsnowmen.gifHi there! This is the Daily Thread for St. Stephens Day! It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

xmas-smiley-010.gifMorning OS friends.

HSsnowwelcome.gifto all the new people who posted yesterday, don't let it be just a one off.. jump on in and join us.. Most of us are lovely.. :rotfl::rotfl:
Mioliere - if that basket is typical of what you take when you go visiting then please feel free to drop in here any time you are in South Devon..giggle.gif
Hester - Thank you for the kind comment
Elona - Hope you got the freeview working as there was some great TV on last night.. Dr Who, Catherine Tate, Strictly Xmas to name just a few!
Taplady - hugs.gifStill thinking of Janet and keeping her in my prayers. Hope your husbands toe heals soon, broken toes are excruciatingly painful I know. (and they go really interesting black and purple colours too!) Arnica can help with the bruising though.
Sunny - so glad you had a nice time with your parents though it's a shame they had toleave so early. I wish I could have seen my family this Christmas.
Haribo and Pink- Hope you both had lovely days with your families
Cranky and Smokey - thinking of you both
xmastree.gif I have to say I really enjoyed reading the Christmas wishes to, and from, everyone on the thread yesterday, so many kind words written from the heart. You are all such caring people.
xmastree.gif Tristan mailed me just after I posted yesterday morning. He unfortunately spent all day in bed on Christmas Eve with some kind of stomach bug. At least that is what he called it. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who continues to pray and send supportive vibes for him.hugs.gif

xmastree.gif Had a gorgeous dinner though I could only eat a tiny bit of pudd as I was so full. I sat and stripped Torvil the Turkey while watching Eastenders and froze 5 lbs of meat and there is lots left. We have that plus the delicious Cola ham for today, and tomorrow (when my OHs parents come to visit) we shall cook the beef.

xmastree.gif I hope everyone got what they wanted from Santa.. My fave gifts were from my OH - the Levi Roots Reggae reggae Cook book and my Art Deco ladies diary, what did everyone else get?

So finally - enjoy your Boxing Day no matter what you are doing. With love, light and festive good wishes...

    Morning all

Am up early after enjoying a lovely night's sleep after the busy day yesterday. Had a late night Christmas Eve as was busy prepping veg, laying table etc and organising. I'm so pleased this thread has helped with my organisation skills, I've cooked Christmas Day dinner every year for about the last 5 years but never have I been so organised and it was so stress free! Barmy as it may sound but I really enjoyed being in the kitchen and doing the cooking yesterday, as I knew everything was under control! Certainly lunch was one of my best! Turkey was lovely.

We had to wake boys at 7.10am so didn't have an ultra early start which is always a bonus, they seemed really pleased with their prezzies, even though eldest had asked for something we couldn't get. Had a nice day at home just myself, OH and our boys - bliss! This afternoon we are going to my mum's, there will be mum, dad, my brother and SIL and her son, and my sister, BIL and my niece and nephew, my bro and family were spending Christmas with SIL's family but they have altered their plans so we can spend some time together at mum and dad's, (with dad becoming poorly it really makes you take stock, doesn't it?) Will be very nice day, bro and sis have organised the food between them and we are eating a cooked meal at about 5pm.

We will be having brekkie shortly, I need to make some sausage rolls and pack for going away tomorrow - am really looking forward to it now - it's going to be hard work but I do get a lot of pleasure from doing it and watching people have a good time and of course joining in! It works out quite nicely this year as we come home on New Years Day and then have Saturday and Sunday to relax then back to work on the Monday, other years' we have had to go straight back to work the next day and I'm still really shattered. Spoke to bro and my other sis yesterday (sis lives in Devon and had to work right up to Christmas Eve so no possibility of her coming to mum's this year so won't see her today). They are coming to mum's next weekend so we'll be back and can meet up then so will have seen everyone over this Christmas and New Year.

Take care those in the snow. Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning :santa2:
First thing yesterday morning, we were down the garden picking sprouts for dinner :D I had to wake the kids up at 9am, one was tired and the other was hungover

I ate soooooo much yesterday :D It won't go to my hips though, the calories have already been burned off ;) :rotfl:

There's loads of sliced turkey, beef and ham in the fridge so that should keep us going for a while. We made stock yesterday too, so I need to make some room in the freezer.

    Present list -
Tons of Soap & Glory - fabulous stuff it is :D
    Gloves
    Earrings
    Madonna's Hard Candy
    Choc
Tin of biscuits - good old Nan, lol
Sound system which we can't set up yet cos the decs are in the way :D

    Morning All

I did manage to catch up on the thread yesterday and glad a good time was had by all.

I had to tickle my DD at 5:45am to wake her - I was sick of waiting to get up to see if he'd been! All the kids were pleased with what they received which is always good.

Well my cold was quite nasty yesterday and I got through the day with the help of DH, beechams flu tablets and whiskey in my coffee!! Still feeling quite sorry for myself but I am so thankful that I packed in smoking earlier this year otherwise I'm sure it would be even worse!

We do christmas lunch here for us and the kids and thats how we like it - because of early preparation its a stress free affair that comes together nicely (DS2 who is notoriously hard to please said he actually thought it was the best thing he had ever eaten!) Kids had ice-cream for pudding, me and the twins didn't want anything and DH started on his journey through a sherry trifle that his nanny makes for him....by the time i went to bed last night he was on his fourth bowl :rotfl:

Think we'll have bacon sausage and eggs for brunch then a picnic of cold meats salad pickles sausage rolls and picnic eggs for dinner as there will just be me DS2 DH and DD as step-kids are off to their mums for the night.

I got a little homesick yesterday as my brother and sister, grandad, aunty and nephew were all at my mum & dads for dinner and its hard not to feel left out when they are all together but I'll see them when me and DD go over at the beginning of February - something to look forward to through the long month of January!

Hope everyone continues to enjoy the festivities!

    Morning all

Had a lovely day yest. Really laid back morning with OH and DD2 starting with champagne, then DB called over with presents. Then went to DD1 's house where she had cooked the most beautiful christmas dinner for us all. I am so proud of her, she really enjoyed doing it too! Then to top it off, OH, DD2 and SiL2b did all washing up and I wasn't allowed to lift a finger (well other than my glass lol:rotfl:) What a treat of a day:D:D:D

Came home about 9 and sat and had a glass of baileys, feeling very fortunate and content.

I hope everyone had a lovely day and that the christmas feeling is still with you all. It really is a love-ing time of year isn't it when you take time to take stock and appreciate each other.

Friends coming today so will be cooking a gammon. Usually do it in honey but after reading verious posts might try coke method if I can find instructions anywhere.

Hope you all have a nice Boxing Day

Hope you all had a great day yesterday:D
DS was pleased with his Wii and over the moon with his "toilets of the world" calendar.
All I will really say about yesterday is that I tried to find some blessings in the day:o. Christmas and autism do not mix at all and I will be pleased to get back to a normal life soon........I used to love christmas:cool:.
He is more chilled today and is playing his wii.
OH and I didnt really do presents much this year as too poor:rolleyes: but I did get some lovely toiletry things which I dont normally treat myself to and my mum and dad got me a lovely leather weekend bag and a Crown Devon stockholm cup and saucer ( the 1950s red deer one;))
I am hoping to have a pyjama day today watching films but wont hold my breath:o
MSD do you like Art Deco? Thats the look I am going for with my wedding...already have a 30s dress in that style and now searching for jewellery.
Hope you all have a great boxing Dayxmas-smiley-008.gif

    Hi,
We had a good day despite my worries - my kids were very pleased with their presents. They had some surprises which i was very excited about as they had given me lists and were not expecting any extras. We were awake early as DS3 excited..he then unfortunately OD'ed on Cococola which we dont usally buy but big sis had bought some and he got hold of it so he was very tearful in the evening and went to bed early. He is always so sunny so I find it very hard to cope with when he gets unreasonable but managed to work out what had happened. That was the only thing that went wrong - apart from sausage fat on my Ugg boots:eek: That will teach me to spend so much on myself.

Dinner was tasty coutesy of M&S but it tasted good and kids ate everything up:T

I had some lovely presents - Victorian Farm book with christmas update, a bird feeder and table and my trusty dairy diary which have had since the birth of DS1 (19 years now)!!!

We braving the sales today as kids have money they want to spend. Then we going to the cinema this afternoon to see Frittons Gold. This film has something for everyone in my family - a good story for me and DD and lovely girls for my 3 DS's!!!!!

Hope you have a lovely day today,
    Hugs,
    Mollyxx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
