So now i've got to take THIS one back as well. Luckily i've got a receipt, so it's going to be imaginitive original vouchers instead.

They may not return it a second time unless its part of the conditions of sale that they offer.

Wouldn't it be easier to just give her the money in future?

Alternatively, Gift Vouchers Or check her DVD collection before purchasing DVD's :)

In this economic climate I wouldn't buy ANY gift vouchers. Too many people have been left with useless bits of paper/card.
  • come on folks, gift vouchers are no more thoughtful than cash and are, in effect, like saying here's £x but you can only spend it here.

I agree, I never buy Gift Vouchers. But the OP's Girlfriend clearly loves her DVD's so a Gift Voucher for HMV would never come in wrong :)

But they may be far from the cheapest place - Play often has decent deals on, or Amazon. By buying vouchers you're blocking the chance to shop around - not very MSE ;) Oh and doubly not MSE if they don't give change

It was a Poirot box set. They're not selling on eBay (no surprise there as i don't like the show lol)

Anyway i headed in today and long story short is they weren't going to give me anything until they saw that sticker on it with the barcode & price. They talked of vouchers until i said i wanted to exchange it there & then for an item of same value.

So i walked out with the complete X Files box set & fresh receipt.

Get home, have a weird funny but not good, feeling.

Go and check the girlfriends DVD collection as i know she WANTED the X Files box set a while ago and can't 100% remember if she bought it, but have a weird feeling that i remember her watching episode after episode earlier in the year.

Guess what's staring back at me when i see the collection.

So now i've got to take THIS one back as well. Luckily i've got a receipt, so it's going to be imaginitive original vouchers instead.

    Great :(

Love it! I leave very VERY good hints. The first (which is a pain) is record all of the DVD's I have so they can be conviniently checked around this time. Second, leave around 30 items in my Amazon basket saved for later.
Third, Lovefilm basket with the rankings ;)

HMV are usually quite good after Christmas. Vouchers is a bonus also as they don't have to do anything without a receipt (as said). My prevision this year was ResiEvil5 on the PS3...and when I saw it for £18 new I thought "If I buy that now and don't get it for Christmas, it may be dearer. If I get it, refund time!".

10 points whoever first guesses right; refund or play time!

A subscription to Lovefilms may be a better option?
