Lidl frozen. £8 for 4.2kg. I would have bought a larger one if they had had one.
Absolutely no complaints. Cooked with an onion and an orange inside and streaky bacon lattice. Teamed with a £4 gammon joint there was plenty for 10 on the day with enough left over for snacks Christmas night and yesterday, a 3 meat pie and the remains are going in a stew tomorrow.
Billy bargain!0 -
3-bird roast - Goose, duck and pheasant from local butcher. Very tasty and no waste.

We had a Norfolk Black, from our local butchers. Plus we have been given some venison for the new year.0

After having a fresh turkey from the local butchers last year which when I went to pay for it cost over £50:eek: I decided to go for the M&S stuffed turkey crown. Sage and onion stuffing already in, bacon on the top and it was lovely! I cooked it on Christmas eve as wanted to spend as much time with my boys this year as possible. I even bought pre-prepd veg pack from M&S!!! Roast Potatoes, parsnips, sprouts and carrots were all in a box and I just had to take them out and cook them for 35 mins!!! I know it's cheating and not the cheapest way to do things but for 1 day and it alll tasted lovely and I didn't spend long in the kitchen so would do the same againMBNA [STRIKE]£2,029[/STRIKE] £1,145 Virgin [STRIKE]£8,712[/STRIKE] £7,957 Sainsbury [STRIKE]£6,870[/STRIKE] £5,575 M&S [STRIKE]£10,016[/STRIKE] £9,690 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£11,951[/STRIKE] £11,628 CTC [STRIKE]£7,629[/STRIKE] £6,789 Mortgage £[STRIKE]182,828[/STRIKE] £171,670

Had a butter basted turkey breast (fresh) from Tesco. £4.00 for 1 or £7.00 for 2.
Delicious.
Just two of us but had leftovers for Boxing Day.0 -
Mine was from Morrisons, Turkey Crown £7 - only for two so still lots of leftovers. Covered in butter & streaky bacon & it tasted fab.
Auntie & Uncle went the organic route this year for two adults & 3 children their turkey cost.....£100!!! I had some boxing day & tasted no nicer than mine - I think I would have keeled over in shock at the butchers if I was them!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
well...... I dont know if you all want to know where ours came from, but I shall say it anyway...
Its our Christmas presant from Mum and Dad every year....
Yes, they buy them when they are 3 weeks old and rear them up for the chop just before Christmas..
But hay!!!! even though I hate the job, wow... it was absolutely delicious. Another thing I did this year is cooked it in a roasting bag instead of foil.... wow, I sure would advise everybody to try it... xxxxxxx0 -
Standard Tesco turkey crown - little bit of water in tray, rough chopped carrot, onion, leek, celery and placed crown on top. Butter under the skin and bacon over the top. Covered with foil and cooked for about 2 and a quarter hours removing foil for last half hour and it was absolutely delicious, really moist and tasty.0

Got my turkey crown from Iceland and it was lovely.
First time I've had this and will def get it again...no waste at all.
Lola
Me too (actually my FIL treated us as he was coming for Xmas).
The meat was very nice & moist, and it was so much easier to carve than a proper bird, but I made gravy with the cooking juices and that was so salty and tasted nasty I had to discard it and start again.(I'll know in future!)
I liked having lots of white meat, plenty left over for cold and no waste.0
