We had duck breast from Sainsburys (2 for £4 special offer). It was very tasty even with my cooking.0

I had a local free range one from the local farm who deliver my vegetable box every week. It was 5.2kgs and cost me £31.40 but it was absolutely delicious and loads left to portion and freeze for other meals during January.
I have tried supermarket ones in the past and not been impressed. Would rather pay extra to have good meat.0 -
I completely pushed the boat out this year and bought an organic turkey from Well Hung Meat Company, delivered to my door on 23rd Dec.
Cooked it upside down initially so all juices baste the meat....absolutely delicious, juicy, tasty and loads left
.
Basted it with butter, streaky bacon and its own juices.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

aldi turkey crown (8.99 I think) and a beef joint from sainsburys (about £9.50 on offer) to feed 7 people with leftovers.
Turkey cooked in about an inch of water in Dutch Oven for about 2.5hours on low(gas 5) with lid on then uncovered for half an hour draped with bacon. Very moist. Stuffing done separately. Beef cooked at same time on lower shelf in my normal size gas oven, then turkey out and beef to floor of oven and trimmings /roast pots on high temp higher shelves.
Had to take it all out and do yorkshires while meat resting. Veg done partly in steamer on hob and partly in electric steamer. Xmas pud done in slow cooker Gravy and mushrooms done on hob.
Aldi crown very nice and have enough left to eat today to finish it off. Would deffo buy again next year. HTH0 -
