But did Karlsruhe ATC advise easyJet that they couldn't provide an ATC service for STN-MUC?

• Dont know - is this a question to ask them?

Mrs FB will be in a position to speak direct to Karlsruhe on Friday and see what they actually say in relation to a direct question - was there a radar failure that would have prevented EJ flying into Munich.

In view of the current without prejudice offers it would suggest that EJ are not sufficiently sure of their grounds to actually go to court. However a suitable compromise position might still be reached - but if Karlsruhe confirm that there was no reason for EJ to cancel- then I am inclined to press on to court ( although Mrs FB might have a different view of sensible compromise offers of course) - and subsequently show the whole sorry saga of ignored e-mails , ignored recorded letters, compromise offers etc etc etc to the national press to see whether it has any interest for them.

My guess is they might have a fair number of cases already and are perhaps waiting for the one with a large human interest angle.

Slow progress . German air traffic control have replied to an e-mail stating

Yes, there was a radar failure in our Karlsruhe control centre on May 30, 2010.
The system was down between 16.25 and 19.15 (UTC

My wife was due to take off from Munich at 21.50 ( German time) using an incoming flight from Stansted due to land at 21.25. So the question is with karlsruhe functioning normally after 19.15 UTC which is I think 20.15 BST ( and reportedly at 50% all the time) - - was this justification to cancel the outgoing flight from Stansted due to leave 18.40 and arriving Munich 21.25. No other flights from Stansted were cancelled and no other flights into Munich other than easyjet ones failed to arrive.

Ask them what time the crew clocked on, how many hours their maximum shift was and the end time, and the flights they were due to operate during this shift.

We can then look closer at what happened.

• I called the helpline to ask about cancelling a car that I had booked when I booked a flight for a colleague. I called them two days before the flight and was told that I could cancel it on line and get a refund. I did this and we all took the flight and returned to the UK. When I received my credit card bill I noticed that there had been no cancelation and no refund of the car hire. When I phoned the helpline yesterday(24 minutes on a mobile phone) they said that I could not have cancelled the car on line and that I should have called or written in????? I complained in writing through the website system and received a reply today that is beyond belief - saying that I cancelled the car after the date I travelled??? and showing links to the advice on the website about cancelling car hire and receiving a refund, then adding completely the opposite in the narrative? Where do I go from here. The andy@easyJet.com address is rejected by their site.

I just read through this whole thread to find out the resolution only to see the last post and losing the will to live
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
