Andy Harrison, the current Easyjet CEO remains in post until june 2010 so the advice given previously to email him in respect to some of the recent delays/cancellations/refunds remains valid.

    Thanks for that.:)
  • We finally received our refund on Friday for our cancelled flight (our flight to Berlin was cancelled on the 23rd Dec).
We are now trying to claim further compensation for the cancellation in line with article 7 of the EU regulation No 261/2004. Easyjet are of course claiming that due to adverse weather conditions they could not operate the plane safely and had to cancel the flight, however they were able to operate the later Easyjet Berlin flight at 19.50. I have checked Flightstats and this definitely confirms it. I am waiting to hear from them, I emailed them again last night.
  • My flight was cancelled three weeks ago and I'm still waiting for a refund. I don't even want the extra money that I had to pay for a flight with another airline. So why does it take so long to get your money back when it takes them minutes to accept a payment from you?

I can't see why Easyjet think they can keep customers if they behave like this.

People complaining about easyjet not issuing a refund within 7 days might be interested to know that having booked through lastminute.com a flight with Meridiana Airlines, which too was cancelled during the xmas fiasco, I am having to wait up to 16 weeks for my refund!

Very interested in the exchange about whether easyjet might generally be obligated by the courts to pay out EUR 250 compensation over the bad weather xmas period. My cancelled flight with them was on 20/12/09: LGW to Pisa. This was the day before the flight with Meridiana (so two cancelled flights and two wasted trips to Gatwick two days running!) And to add insult to injury my insurance company is refusing to pay out for the unused Italian accommodation costs.
  • I was refunded the outward bound flight via phone this morning but not the COMPENSATION/REIMBURSEMENT AS PROMISED BY YOUR STAFF FOR A REPLACEMENT FLIGHT ARRANGEMENTS!?! I HAVE APPLIED ONLINE FOR THIS SEPERATELY AS INSTRUCTED BY TELEPHONE STAFF.
IT WAS A NIGHTMARE! The sheer stress and panic caused by the waiting, not knowing and uncertainty, upset and grief in being potentially stranded just before Xmas with the outlook of possibly not getting to the family for Xmas was horrible and a bad experience.

It was 2 days before Christmas and my brother and I went to Gatwick having checked the flights before we left and ALL WAS OK. We then checked in and ALL WAS OK (around 4.30).
Went to the departure lounge with the board saying wait in lounge till gate announced at 17.50 ( 10 mins before flight?!).
At around 9pm we were told the flight had been cancelled. We were told to make alternative arrangements to travel.
EZ Jet had no flights from any airport before the 27th DEcember!!
Panick ensued and I was told by the attendant at the EasyJet desk (and have witnesses to proove it!) that as long as we booked an economy flight, one way we could make alternative arrangements to travel before Xmas by any means & cost).
Obviously Eurostar was pretty messed up too! SO, The only flights I could get were on BA on 24th Dec from Heathrow at the cost of 736.70 each for my brother and I (the last 2, economy, one way on BA) - which I put on my credit card. All receipts are/have been attached for these 2 flight tickets, with proof and my credit card statement on.

I have not even asked for my travel expenses home yet on the 22nd and how much more it cost me and my brother.

I stikll as of today havent heard from Easyjet - what can I do - this is alot of money on their promise to pay back through a cancellation on a day when the weather did not stop[ any other flights at Gatwick?!

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Homeward bound flight from Lanzarote canceled by Ryanair. The one rep. doing the queue told them 'Act of God' so no obligation to give them drinks or food vouchers at the airport.. She also told them flying home Saturday! 4 days away. But then told when they finally got to the desk could have flown Thursday, meanwhile booked another hotel until Saturday.
Holiday insurance companies do not want to help saying its down to RyanAir.
Any suggestions where to start please folks. Its for my wife and her friend!

  • We had a similar experience on Dec 23rd. Easyjet flight from Gatwick to Belfast was cancelled. Weather was fine and we were not advised of cancellation until we walked the 20 mins to the boarding gate. The flight already having been delayed for 40 mins. Wait for it - THEY CANCELLED THE FLIGHT BECAUSE THEY HAD NO CREW TO FLY THE PLANE - After several letters, emails and telephone calls we have been reimbursed the cost of 2 BMI flights on 24th to get us home. (£418) plus £50 for petrol for family to come and collect us and take us to Heathrow the following day. Luckily we were able to stay with them. We have now started to push for compensation. They will probably say it was cancelled due to extraordinary circumstances but we won't let that go easily. We wouldn't have bothered with the compensation claim if they'd just refunded all our expenses quickly and without question but we've had to wait too long to get our money back.
  • I was booked on the 17:15 flight from Stansted to Belfast on 23 December, which was delayed then finally cancelled at about 22:30. Easyjet weren't operating any alternative flights until 27 December, so I got a BMI flight on 26th. So far I have got the promise of a refund for the EJ flight and the difference between that flight and the BMI flight. I have also got half the cost of my return ticket London - Stansted.

They are refusing to pay any more travel costs or the loss of 3 days car hire. At first they ignored my claim for the Eur250 but then said they wouldn't because the cancellation was due to extraordinary circumstances. They said they wouldn't pay the car hire as I hadn't notified them about this within a reasonable period! I am still (politely) arguing about the outstanding reimbursements and the compensation. I'm particularly irritated about the car hire.

Was anyone else booked on this flight?

Just thought I would update you...Easyjet have now come back and changed their mind!

First they reimbursed our flight from Gatwick to Belfast. I have received this payment. Then they promised £250.60 which added to the payment received covered the cost of our replacement flight. However I did not receive the £250.60 so I wrote to them again demanding an explanation.

Now they agree we are due compensation and say they will pay €250 each which works out about £420. This is on top of reimbusing the original flight.

    In short
Total paid out £217.98 plus £418.00.
Total soon to be received from Easyjet £217.98 plus £420.
This means we flew home for free but it would have been much nicer not to have had to fight for it.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE persist when dealing with Easyjet. I found once I quoted the EC regulation things moved much quicker.

    Good luck all
  • Well done from me too, Jacq! I'd be really interested as well to know what arguments you used, they are still refusing to pay me compensation or the car hire. I'm not going to give up though.
