Can anyone help me?
We have a btvision box we no longer use and DD is moving to a house that she can get freeview, rather than buy her a freeview box can she use the btvision as freeview only ?
She will have no telephone line so cannot use btvision other services and cannto get sky as rental property and not allowed to put up sky box. Just do not want to waste the moeny buying a freeview box if the btvision one can be used.
thanks

I'm sure it needs a BT broadband connection to boot upEx forum ambassador

The tiscali TV box ( same principle) needed an internet connection to do anything ( even to watch programs already recorded to its hard disk)Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

Well I know thats the sensible thing but she is not moving for 2 weeks and was thinking of buying her a freeview for christmas. We do not get freeview where we live so cannot try it here.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -

Without a BT Broad band connection & a home hub,it will not do anything.0

You can only use a BT Vision box with BT Broadband and a connection to BT Vision. :P it will not work otherwise.0

Why don't YOU try it at home. Pull out the BT line and see if it works0

At a slight tangent but i wonder how they manage to flog BT vision? I mean it seems like a totally inappropriate delivery mechanism. TV should be via cable, terrestrial or satellite. Clogging up data networks by ramming huge chunks of video down it must surely create vast overheads?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Bt take the data the box's use on the chin so to speak it don't come off your data allowance.0
