Extra problem re. Sky's replacement card

Hi there
Having been a victin of Sky's scam to get people to buy a replacement card if they 'cancelled' a subscription, I decided not to replace my viewing card. I am not in one of the ITV1 regions that would have been lost and added channel 5 as an extra channel - wasn't bothered about any of the others.
I posted a while back about having lost my regional ITV news when I removed my old viewing card - the ITV1 channel is there, but the news and weather is for London (I am Granada region). I tried adding the region back using the method described in some of the responses on my previous thread without any joy. I got my regional settings back only by reinserting my card (which hasn't yet been deactivated by Sky).
I now have another Sky box attached to an upstairs telly which uses a defunct card. This TV is also showing London news, rather than my local region.
Is this a problem anybody has experieced or can solve for me!?

Why not get a freeview receiver that plugs into a scart socket and is hidden from view?
Metronic Digi -Scart Digital Freeview Receiver

Am assuming this requires an external aerial - which I don't have?0

The regional settings problem occurs frequently with myself. After expensive phonecalls to Sky to rectify the problem, which they claimed to do (for a while); I discovered my own way to sort it out:
The box is switched off (mine usually is) for at least 5 mins and the card removed. Swith it on and when it says searching for listings, insert the viewing card.
This usuall restores matters.0 -
The Sky replacement card appears to be a scam from Sky to get money out of peolpe if only to stop the annoying messages.
The channels I was to lose, I was not viewing anyway ( not in my region). I was to lose these last Oct !! It is now Feb and I am still getting the messages and all the channels I was getting.
So it would appear to be a money raising scam to stop the annoying and meaningless messages.
Any more problems from Sky and Freesat - here I come.0 -

I am anything but a fan of $ky. However, you are completely wrong on this matter.
The encryption used by $ky is NDS, which has never been hacked. This round of card replacements is only the second since the launch of digital satellite and is to ensure that encryption remains secure. The blue cards will be killed off soon, but will continue to regionalise the EPG for a while to come.
There are legal ways to avoid paying the whole £20, already posted on this forum.RIP independent MSE.
