At 7.30am my local M & S (staines) only had 3 large turkeys left so I rushed to another branch (brooklands) where they still had about 20 left at 7.50am and had already reduced them all to £18. Didn't notice any other reductions.

None left in any Sainsburys, Asda or the Co-op this morning.
M&S have some, but all at full price, and when I asked if they would be reducing them, was told only those with TODAYS sell by date - and there were none with the 24th !!
So presume my M&S is opening tomorrow and Boxing Day as they had Turkeys there with sbd of 26th.
Cannot justify spending fifty-odd pounds on a turkey, so heading out now to buy whatever I can.....hopefully some sausages left....somewhere:cool:
FWIW on my travels, not seen any fantastic reductions on anything - veg, meats, decorations or anything.
Presume stores have just ordered less stock this year....wonder if I am the only one Turkey-less this Christmas

We thought we were going without didnt get 1 until about the time you posted on here  We didnt want a big 1 as oh doesnt really like turkey so didnt want to spend much. But in the end went to Makro picked up a turkey crown and then bonus they reduced them to half price so we brought another.:D Phew Know how you feel hope you got 1.
  • We weren't going to buy a turkey this year, but we went to Asda this afternoon and they were reducing them all.

We paid £5 for one. Think it should have been £14. They did have bigger ones a bit dearer, but I didn't have much room in my freezer.

    Well thank heavens for Waitrose.
I got a gorgeous Turkey, pre-stuffed and easy carve for half price.
Also, fantastic choc log for £3 that should have been £8
Lots of other bits and bobs, and I think they would have reduced everything down even lower if I was prepared to stick around - but I wasn't.
Did my postman pat duties delivering cards and presents to friends and neighbours, whipped up an impromptu meal for kids ( somehow a trip to their father over dinner time didn't seem to involve any actual food!) - but having a fridge and freezer heaving I was fully prepared to rise to the challenge.
Been to mid-night Christmas service, home to mulled wine, and now playing Santa filling the kids sacks.
Thanks for all the updates on who had Turkeys and who was selling them off..... I hope everyone else managed to get something. Waitrose had whole Organic Turkeys, Turkey crowns, stuffed Turkeys, Turkeys with Stuffing Balls, Goose, Duck, Stuffed Duck....was very tempted when they reduced the stuffed whole salmon to half price....but I really didn't need it..... I am trying to be good and only buy what I know I need, and will be eaten. Must try even harder in 2010.

Agree entirely skiTTish about not wanting the mad panic on Christmas eve.....I have NEVER been so late getting one before, and believe me, it wasn't planned that way.
I have been looking for last few days, but only ones I could see were HUGE - and cost about £50 plus . No way could I justify that much money as a single parent. I presume all the smaller sized birds were snapped up as soon as they were put out.

I was prepared to spend £20 plus - I even had some M&S vouchers if needed to maybe push it to £30, but again theirs were all VERY expensive, and sa said they would not be reducing any at all today.
Didn't believe a word she said, but I couldn't hang around all day, I was busy with other things - like spending time with my kids

    Merry Christmas all.:T

  • There was a fish bonanza in Saunsbury's 4-5 on CHristmas eve. The fresh counter had loads of side fillets of salmon, that were already half price, halved again, so they were £3ish rather than £12. And lots of pre packed fish down to silly prices- eg 25p for trout fillets. But just before that I was in Asda and had missed everything apart from turkey crowns. They certainly don't leave it till an hour before they close to do reductions.
