Washing up gloves that have a hole in can be used for rubber bands (all sizes) and the thumb or fingers can be finger stalls for the first aid box. Dont use the finger with the hole in as a finger stall.
Keep the good glove of the pair until you have 2 of them and you've then got a pair again if both are right/left hand ,turn one inside out.0 -

A small (500ml) water bottle can be filled with water, and the lid replaced. If this is put into the toilet cistern, it will reduce each flush by 500ml. This will save the palnet for all of us, and money for those on a meter!
Just check after the first flush that the bottle is not fouling the mechanism.

Oh! another good thread!
Plastic food bags (only the ones that haven't been used for meat) can be washed and re used.
Clean but past their best terry socks can be filled with uncooked rice and heated in the micro to use as heat pads.
I re-use square jars (the type that drinking choc comes in and a type of curry sauce) for storing spices on my pantry shelves. Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

When soap bars are used up and down to a tiny scrap, I put them in a jar. Then, when I have to wash delicates by hand I let some of it melt in hot water, and wash the garments in it. In the last rinse I put a pinch of soda crystals as softener.0

I never throw away old papers or junk letters that have a blank reverse side. They all go into a large box file and I use them as scrap paper or to print off stuff on a temporary basis, such as instructions on specific work projects etc. Of course sometimes I need to print off "proper" copies of stuff so I use the Tesco Value paper - I bought a ream (500 sheets) 2 years ago and I still have half of it!
Envelopes - sometimes they open easily and if there's not too much printing on them I keep them for my own use.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

If you put water in the jar with the soap (needs a lid) the soap will melt between uses.
Being a dirty besom I drip down my front regularly. When I remove the soiled garment at night I put some of this mix on the stain. Most times the stain is removed when eventually wash day arrives!0 -
Ice cream boxes (especially Carte D'or sized) make good lunch boxes, or to hold bits and bobs (sewing / art stuff).0

Use old laddered tights in the garden to tie up your plants to stakes.
The large water bottles make great cloches just cut off the tops and invert them over tender plants.
Lolly pop sticks make good plant labels, just use waterproof ink.Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Reuse jars as tealight holders in the garden during the summer, then as we have little space to store they go in the recycling box in the winter.
