All of these cheap deals sound so tempting. Im steering clear of them simply because the risk of default of the companies and the chance that due to "something" my papers can't be processed, that'd just !!!!!! me off entirely!

Yep - the blackberry is the push email thing. Add £5 a month extra to get internet from beginning of contract. Its pretty good deal.
  • vodafone offered me an upgrade option of: 600 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited internet & blackberry service for £40/month and 4 months half price(18 months contract).

what do you guys think of this? any good?

that means 14 months x 40 + 4 months x 20 = £640 over 18m, or an average of £35.55 per month.. to be honest with you theres some 24 month contracts that offer more and cost less over the 24m contract. i'd ssay its a pretty crap deal, but its voda, its what they do (more expensive packages all round).

Orange Panther40 on an 18 month contract weighs in at £35 a month (when vat is back up) and you get 900 mins, 500 txt, internet/bb services.

    Panther35 would get you 600 mins, 500 txt, internet/bb services for a total of £588 (£32.70/month)

Unless texting's important, orange is the way imo.

Well the BB 9700 can be got for as little as £300 over 12 months BUT the tariff doesn't include the Blackberry service or internet, just 300 mins + unlimited texts.

The deal is thru' Dialaphone (DAP) and includes £70 cashback on a £35/mth Vodafone tariff. Going thru' Quidco gives the other £50 cashback. ie. £420 for 12 months without the cashback.

Obviously internet/Blackberry service needs to be added on to make it worthwhile. So another £5 -7.50/mth.

As Vodafone mobiles tend to be unlocked, as are most mobiles sold by DAP, I am debating whether to get this deal and then use my O2 Simplicity SIM in it (for which I can change my current bolt-on of unlimited internet to the Blackberry internet). I'd then give the Voda SIM to OH who is currently out of contract.

Hmm yeh i steer clear of cashback deals, not worth the hassel to be honest! But thats just me.
The above averages out at £25/m exc. bbs, and inc. the cashback side of it. Not bad, i'd still pay £5 extra despite the 24m tie in, given i'd get plenty (1200) of minutes.

Retentions in 2 years will be fun.. should get an awesome package i'd imagine!
