Goose feather and down is a superior quality filling to duck feather and down. The feather and down of a goose is larger and therefore less filling is needed to be as thermally efficient, making the duvet slightly lighter than a duck feather and down duvet and more luxurious.

sorry carla, no idea, I use what my mummy gives me !! She sells them in her shop, so just gives me a new one every now and then, but I havent a clue what type it is !!

Yup - still walking at every opportunity. He has a truck and a thomas ride on/push along that he pushes around then upends and spins the wheels!!

I think duck is softer than goose...but it could be the other way around I do know that cheap feather pillows can be very scratchy so it is worth going for quality.


Edit - MOTM I think your theory says that duck feather and down is better - because the feathers are smaller so it needs more, and so the duvet is heavier and more luxurious. A lighter duvet for the tog rating would be the cheaper/less luxurious one IMHO.

thanks!! i never use google....i dunno why!
now the question that lies: do i spend £20 on 2 pillows (goose feather) or £15 on Duck feather by Fogarty or £12 by Debenhams!!? mmmmmm.......mse tells me £12, but i want the goose feather.
I suppose thnking logically, the duck feather will be excellent standard for us compared to the crappy primark version we have at the minute!?? lol

Right, I am off to drown myself in olbas oil, fill myself with sudafed, go to bed and hope for the best :rolleyes: might have some of Seth's tixylix for good measure too, it sorted out my tickly throat nicely earlier!!

Carla We got the Debenhams reduced to £40 from £80 hollowfibre duvet and I'm hoping to one day get memory foam pillows I'm just soo helpful

I hate feather/down stuff esp the one that used to be on MILs spare bed, it was so heavy you were almost pinned down in the bed by it and always getting jabbed by escaping ones!
