weezl - only you know if it's financially viable but I do think it's good to have one on one time, I get my 1 on 1s using family to have the 'other' child but I know that not everyone is a lucky as me to have a mummy qualified in education who loves getting messy with paint etc :D
...Will pop to the clinic this week, seeing as we will be having lunch there anyway - it will be her 1st birthday, so techinically I no longer need to weigh her with nothing on :)...
NICE say they need to be nude until 2yrs now :p

SM 1st thing to do is call the manufacturer and ask how much a new part would be, if you need to replace the whole door then you can fit it yourself coz it just screws on IIRC if not you'll have to ring round coz I'm sure the usual call out for the man to come look at it out of warunty is about £60:eek:

    Still catching up...

But wanted to ask a more selfish question: when Fergie was about 6 weeks old we went to look at DH's work's nursery. At the time we asked to be put on their waiting list cos we didn't think Kester would be along so soon :).

Anyhoo, they rang yesterday and offered us thur and Fri PMs from March. I won't be working, but I just wondered if people thought it was a good idea and a justifiable expense cos of the closeness in age of Fergie and Kester, to have 2 afternoons a week to just focus on meeting Kester's needs?

    Any thoughts welcomed :)

I think take it for Fergies benefit, rather than for Kesters. Whilst having time with the new baby will be nice, he will never know any different and will have a developmental advantage from having an older brother. Fergie will come on leaps and bounds in the company of children of his own age for a couple of afternoons a week and he is more likely to 'know' that your time is now split IYSWIM. It will do him lots of good to have something to do that is purely his.

I can't believe her first birthday isn't far away now. I'm busy planning a hungry caterpillar themed birthday cake/party/food. another thing to add to my growing list!

Hey MacSmiler! I missed you xxx

Do you know that waitrose do VHC plates, napkins, tablecloths etc?

Edit: Some of your images are a little dark. It would be worth investing in a lamp to light the cakes with when you are taking photos. You could probably buy a white half-cube set-type-thing to put the cakes in to take photos of them (or get a kind relative who is good with their hands to knock one up).
The images are where the orders are IMHO - you need good quality images to sell your cakes.
I would also put indicative price ranges on there, you can always put subject to detail. Would I be more likely to call if I knew that an average birthday cake was going to cost somewhere between £x and £y??? Probably in my case I would.

I don't know if you remember but I had a HV who insisted on visiting me at home about Eloise's weight, despite the fact that I was happy there was nothing wrong with Ello and despite the fact that I have done this before and in theory should know what I am doing I felt EXACTLY the same way as you.

I think its natural to feel the way you do, but honestly try and have an open mind, the HV's visit was actually really positive for me in the end, even though I was dreading it in the same way as you are.

I think you know you need to have a good stab and trying to sort out babygirls sleep problems and it strikes me that its going to be easier to do it now than when she can get out of bed herself and/or shout No Mummy!, I guess she can probably say Mama now but when they can string 'No Mama' together and come downstairs after you it gets a whole lot harder!

    Hi MM,

    Thanks for your post.

Now that you metion it, I do remember you saying about the HV coming to see you.

You are right, it does need sorting now and that is why i am letting her come around, rather than trying to get out of it.

LO can say Mama now and it's bad enough when she does that, let alone if she said the word 'no' too.

    Morning all

    xxx
  • Bruno - Savvy used to recommend a toddler book...does anybody know what it was or where Savvy can be found these days?

Edit - and AF, before she insisted on coming to see you, this HV was a 'nice HV who specialises in the kind sleep programme' ;)

  • AF to be fair to the HV it will probably really help her to help you if she can see how you have the bedroom set up etc. My HV said that they are able to spend a lot more time with you if they home visit whereas in clinic they are under time pressure.

Edit - and AF, before she insisted on coming to see you, this HV was a 'nice HV who specialises in the kind sleep programme' ;)

    i know, i know :p

last night, she went to sleep late (9pm ish, which was a knock on effect from her getting up that 45mins later as she didn't have a morning nap, napped early afternoon and then flaked around 5pmish depsite everything being done to keep her awake).

the problem is though, during the night, she still had two 7oz bottles. Maddness I know. She ate quite well during the day (for her). I know every well she is using the bottle as a comfort and the HV that is coming around says giving it to her is like a reward for waking up. So i need to break that (which is part of the sleeping plan).

Nightmare at work today. Back to do doing a job that someone should have done themselves but becuase they are too lazy, it's come to me

Keely, maybe he's ill because of the tooth? The boys always got the squits when cutting a tooth, was how I knew to look for one.

    QUOTE]

We've all since had really bad sickness, all three of us. So think it's a bug or food poisoning this time :(

I now have broken glasses, i passed out from being so dehydrated after being sick all night on sunday and landed on my glasses and bent them :(

Hope everyone else is feeling better then i am!

  • How many bottles does she have during the day AF?

Benjamin is taking 2 x 240ml bottles for his CM, one in the morning and one in the afternoon and he practically drains them. At the VERY best we can get him to drink 180ml at home, most of the time it is closer to 120ml
He also sleeps for ages with CM! He slept for 1 hour 15 mins yesterday morning and 1 hour 45 mins yesterday afternoon! I am lucky if I can get him to do 45 mins for each nap!!!

((HUGS)) Keely - I keep dyralyte in the house for when one of us is poorly, dehydration is evil xx
