I've no idea. It's bags and shoes with Charlotte. She doesn't get it from me, as I hardly have any shoes and use the same bag each day.
I'm the same - I buy a new bag when mine falls apart and I hate shoe shopping because they never fit.

My Mam is a Susan, but she always shortened it to Sue as she knew my Gran (her Mam) hated names being shortened.
My parents originally thought I would be called Sue when I was older but I just always preferred being called Susan. No objection to the name itself but it's just not me - it would be the same as calling me Fred. Two of my brothers have none shortenable names but the one who does doesn't shorten his either.
elle theres loads of way of spelling lynne so i feel your pain and everything is either lyn or lynne ... ive actually shouted at people E! when they've spelt it lynn :rotfl: x
One of our baby name criteria was not names that have multiple spelling variations unless there was one variation which was dominant enough that we figured most people would get it right (e.g. Elizabeth).

I love it now though, even though everyone gets it wrong the first time. But my favourite whinge as a kid was 'Why didn't you call me something normal like 'Sarah'?' (my cousin).
I once told my mum I wished I could be called Barbara. No idea why. *confused smiley*

I am finding this thread to be extremely busy lately so many different posters and hundreds of posts too, particularly a lot about breastfeeding which I have no experience or opinion on so find that I am unable to post much lately. I think that because of this, my posts are few and far between, and are getting missed in amongst the hundreds of posts by the regulars who are able to spend a lot more time on here. I am not saying that I am being ignored purposely as I know (well hope:o) that wouldn't happen....

I feel like that a bit too. Somedays I'm too busy to read everything that has posted, so I just read the last page and search the thread for my name in case anyone asked me something earlier :o

Feb to April is going to be a busy time for me. I was sick in October and missed two uni exams, so I've got those to sit in April and will need to refresh my memory on the course materials. I've got a big examinable assignment to do for the 30 points course I'm on now, also due in April. I'll also be part way through a 60 point course, but haven't got the assignment dates for that. Probably be one due in April though.

I've also got usual work and household jobs to do and I'm refitting our bathroom. Mental :D

I'll come and do your grouting if you like? I'm very neat at grouting :)

Susan and Becles do you ever go to Eldon square? When I was little and lived in Wickham there were giant pencils to play on, like a sculpture. But actually your county is huge so it might be MILES from where you both are :o

  • Wow Becles your not going to have a spare minute at all!

I disappeared for a little while and have only really come back in the last few days, I felt that I needed to read everything...and I couldnt keep up at all, so I kind of left. Glam txt me the other day and it just reminded me how I enjoyed chatting to you all and hearing about everybodys little uns. I told myself that it didnt really matter if I didnt read all the posts.

To be honest I dont know how others do it and I dont even work atm, Lexi takes up so much time and I love every minute I get to spend with her as I feel really lucky that I can be at home with her. Then throw house work and Joshua into the equation and it leaves very little time for sitting on here .....

I hope that it doesnt pee anyone off when I just pop in and chat when I can rather than reading every single post, some days I will be here more than others like yesterday then you might not see me for a few days .....

Yes I go to Eldon Square and remember the pencils. I loved them when I was a child and it was the highlight of going to Newcastle :D

They're not there anymore :( It's now the entrance to the Eldon Garden shopping centre which is an extension they built with mainly little specialist shops in.

I'd much rather see people when they can pop in rather than lose people cos of a perceived need to catch up :)

:rotfl:my mum used to soften the blow of shopping by promising the pencils.

Liking the sound of little specialist shops. Unless it's, like, fly fishing or something like that!

  • I shouldnt really laugh but Lexi just came crawling over to me with an empty bottle hanging out of her mouth that she finished about an hour ago, had a good shout at me (im guessing about it being empty) Then threw it on the floor with a look of pure digust :rotfl:

She is now climbing all over Brandy and trying to give her a kiss my poor doggie! - Somebody remind me why I bother with a steriliser!

Actually, whilst I'm here, can I ask for some advice on the Child Trust Fund please?

I keep trying to open the one through Quidco to get the money back and had hoped to get the vouchers too but can't really afford to put any of my own money in (putting some in an accessible account instead (Halifax at 6%).

Parents want to put some money into it the CTF (absolutely no idea how much) but are being a bit obtuse about how to do it. My theory was that they should give me the money and I would put it in via Direct Debit so that we could get the vouchers but they don't seem very keen on this and I don't want to push it in case they were only thinking about putting £50 in or something. (God, that sounds a bit ungrateful reading it back, just meant that I didn't want to assume the amount, am pleased they want to give her money on top of the things they already buy for her).

Anyway - can I set it up and then give them a paying in form or something similar so they can put the money in and maybe them get the vouchers (if I can explain it all in words of one silable for them) by doing a one off direct debit? This has been dragging on for 3 months now and I'm getting bored of the whole thing so any help you can give to help me get it over with will be very much appreciated.

    TIA xxxxx
