this must be a wind up!
pre 1977 it was red - live. black - neutral. and green - earth.
1977/2004 it was the same red and black, but the earth was changed to green/yellow.
to date it is, brown - live. blue - neutral. green/yellow - earth.
if the pan is 30 (or even 60) years old it wont have the modern wiring colors.
Actually, this is not relevant here. You are talking about the standards for cables used for wiring permanent circuits. The OP is talking about flex used to wire a mains plug. The colour codes for flex were changed to Brown, Blue and Green/Yellow in the Electrical Appliances (Colour Code) Regulations 1969 and have not changed since then.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
I tried to make that point (equipment flex vs fixed wiring) back in post #8 but it went un-noticed apparently (at least by ormus anyway)!0

Yep my soldering iron which I must have bought in about 1974 has the 'new' colours in the flex. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0 -

Ha! We have a 'special' class at school for stuff like that!
Changing plugs, tyres, basic plumbing and first aid...
My parents couldn't change a light bulb let alone a plug!:rotfl:0 -
I can't wire a plug myself, I have no desire to either.
I would go through all the cupboards and drawers and get rid of all that old stuff while they are asleep.
Don't worry about rows, there wont be any after they are electrocuted..
Oh and I do fry bread very occasionally with my quorn bacon.....Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -
