Cheap pre-pay mobile phone?
Hello people, I'm hoping someone could help me find a cheap pay as you go mobile phone. I've seen some priced at £10 but I need to get one soon and I don't have any money to spare. Also, the ones I've seen were on T-Mobile and I'd prefer a cheaper network. Anything cheaper than £10 would be great, thank you.

Actually, I can get the T-Mobile ones from my work for £8.50 with my staff discount but I still need to find something cheaper and maybe on Tesco mobile or something more competitive than T-Mobile.0

I've just found some more for £5 but you have to buy £15 credit with them. My budget is £10 maximum, if I get £5 credit then hopefully someone could point me in the direction of a £5 phone.0

Thank you very much Norbertsmum. That's the best deal I've seen so far but I still need to get something cheaper if I can.0

Have you tried your local Freecycle group?
When my phone went t*ts up I got one from Freecycle until I could afford a better one - then re-freecycled it.Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

Tesco have the Nokia 1208 for £14.97, but that includes £10 airtime, so the phone is only costing you £4.97.Stompa0

Thank you, I did notice that one.
It says "£10 free top-up will be loaded onto the handset within 48 hours of activating the phone."
I suspect that I'd need to buy a top up to activate it though? Does anyone know if that's the case?0 -
Damn Freecycle group rejected my application. What's that all about?!
Anyway, I have to get a phone tomorrow; will probably go for the Nokia 1208.
Thank you for the replies!0 -
I enquired about a cheap mobile phone a few days ago and was told about a Nokia 1208 in Tesco but my local Tesco and they didn't have any stock.
I went to cash generators, bought a Sagem (£6), a 99p SIM and £10 top up and took it home to charge it. It didn't work, so I've returned the phone but I've now got a Vodafone SIM and no phone to use it with.
Now I need to find an unlocked or Vodafone handset as cheap as possible.
And to top it off, I've just seen this thread about the top up only lasting 30 days! I really hope it's only the broadband service and not the calls.0
