Abandoned cars in the snow Clamped!

In case anyone is confused, they dont "Clamp" on" Redroutes"in London, they do sometimes "Lift" cars, but they wouldnt in these circumstances. Is this a private company with the name "Redroute"? and were the enforcement notices in place? if so you must be daft to leave your car there.
I don't think it's daft to expect people to show a little common decency and realise that people leaving their cars are doing so out of desperation and with very little other choice. But then, we're not really talking about people, we're talking about parasites.0 -

No one's saying don't use common sense, but suggesting that these people should have had snow chains in their cars and because they didn't, they're even partly responsible for their situation is totally unfair.
It wasnt just snow chains though. I think the OP suggested her friend was low on fuel..We had all been warned of the conditions and part of those warnings was to make sure you had enough fuel, warm clothes/blanket and a shovel (maybe not chains) so I still think that motorists are partly responsible.0 -

I followed the warnings on the met office website extremely closely, and I can assure you that they simply said "be aware", and not "be prepared" on that particular day. There had been a "be prepared" warning two days previously with warnings of heavy snow fall, which never materialised. It was only when I was already in central London and picked up a copy of the Evening Standard that I was informed that it was likely the weather was going to be much worse than expected.
And as for being low of fuel, how are we to know how far he had travelled already and how much fuel had been used up simply stuck in gridlock? A tank full of fuel can diminish pretty rapidly when you're gridlocked for 6 hours.0 -
So who did the clamping, Redroute or Cobra parking? If it was Cobra this is their website http://www.cobra-guards.co.uk/8.html (they claim to be free to the customer) and this is Redroute's http://www.redroute.info/0

Cobra did the clamping in the Winchester pub car park. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

redrouteclamping.wordpress.com has been set up for people effected by RedRoute to share stories and to hopefully find a way to apply the right pressure so people who were clamped can reclaim their fines.0

do people really need to be told exactly what to do for every single second of their lives?
if they are that stupid, they shouldnt be driving!
as for the clamping:
you need to get as much pressure as possible put on the clampers & the landowners
that means contacting the landowners, the council, the police, local councillors & mp's, local press, kick up the biggest fuss you possibly can0 -

well whats the difference supposed to be between 'be aware' & 'be prepeared'
'the weatherman said to be aware of snow, so i was. i was aware it was snowing when i woke up, but i didnt have to do anything else, as all theyd said was to be aware. i then got stuck in the snow whilst driving to work, & didnt know what to do, as i wasnt prepared.'
surely the next thing after 'being aware' is to then 'be prepared'?0 -

If there was no difference, they wouldn't bother to differentiate between the two warnings. 'be aware' doesn't mean 'be aware of snow', it means 'be aware that there is a chance of snow'.
There's a 'be prepared' warning for tomorrow (actually, today) so make sure you get your snow chains ready.0
