Hobby craft is brilliant but expensive to buy in bits and bobs. I usually get mine all co-ordinated, cards, envelopes, stickers the whole lot in one kit from QVC. It works out a whole lot cheaper and everything matches. Get a glue stick and some 3d foam pads and you're off!!!!

It also depends how much you are willing to spend on cards if it will be worth your while.

OH sends cards to all and sundrie so he buys those ones 10 for a pound.
I don't care how much a card costs as long as it's nice - but I don't send a lot.

If you need loads it might not be worth it - whereas once you get started you find little bits and bobs you can use around the house for free. Do you know the ribbons inside your tops to keep them on the hangers - I use them as bows on cards, I've used buttons etc. Can you cross stitch? Little motifs don't take up much time or cost a lot but look lovely and the person will love it because you made it.

Sorry for going on a bit - i think i've found another subject for a dooyoo review. LOL

i am seriously bored and have no craft stuff! Thinking of making cards this year!! xx where is the best place for the stuff and also does it work out more money to make then buy??

If you have The Range shop near you then I have always found them good for craft stuff, mine has a £1 section with good things in. Poundland can also be very good but it is a bit hit and miss. If you get it on a good day you should stock up!

This site is good for buying online http://www.imag-e-nation.com/.
If you have a browse through Google there are a lot of good online shops, I always check out the P+P cost before looking at their items :)

I have found it much cheaper to make cards. I didn't start making cards to save money but it has been a much appreciated bonus. I was shocked recently when I had to buy a card as I needed one in a hurry, I can't believe how expensive they are!

Oh, another thing you could do to top up your craft stuff - print freebies off the internet. If you have a printer then you can find all sorts of backing papers, decoupage, toppers and tags online for free. Also, that way you just print what you want instead of having to buy a bg pack of something.

Do you know that's something I've never done - I'll have to try that later!

I've had an e-mail saying they are ending there partnership with Bounty and any unclaimed funds by 6/2/10 will be lost. I had £25.75 but can only claim £20.00. It doesn't really seem fair that I will loose £5.75, is there anything I can do about this.:(

yay subscription is working again :j

Have to tell you that my DH thinks we are all a little bit barking... He gets that buying stuff in the sales and being organised is money-saving and keeps the stress down, but when I was doing my xmas folder for 2010 the other night he said 'what, a xmas folder? for planning? for 2010?????!!!!!' :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I think he'd rather I did the tax return and the washing up but hey-ho...

Seriously need to not read this thread over the weekend though, my 2DS's drastically need a room clearout and I am on the warpath, so must not get distracted with cutting up xmas cards and planning present ideas...

Yes, Hobbycraft is expensive and not the best place to buy, unless they've got special offers on.

If you're just starting out, Wilkinsons have loads of craft bits starting at £1 and the most expensive is about £8. They have packs of cards and envelopes, decoupage sheets, pretty papers, gold and silver peel off stickers, card toppers etc. Great for MSEers...!

I have a well-stocked craft room that I don't use... I've gone off cardmaking at the moment, although I do make a few in spurts. I prefer patchwork and quilting now, but I've got the stuff there if I need it.

Check to see if there are any craft shops near you then go and have a browse. I also bought an awful lot on Ebay, sometimes you get some really good bargains there.

    Hope this helps...

    Chris
