  • Something else good hat happened yesterday was one of my cardmaking orders arrived - lovely wonderful Parcelforce person left it over our back gate like I'd requested but then made a shelter for it out of flower pots and bits of wood - am going to ring and email to thank them for being so nice :)

Hi just quick question about dooyoo.... ive only been on a week and so new to all rules and stuff. But just had what I read as stropy email off member- who may or not be on here.. we seemed to be implying that because she had made construcitve comments about a posting of mine she was DEMANDING to know why i had the nerve to rate 2 of her postings now... wow keeping count as only "useful"!!!!

Now while I am open to comments esp as new to it, but to me its a personal matter i i find something useful or very useful. Useful to me is still good and well writen? Or have a lost the whole plot??

Im supposed to go re read her review and give comments now.... cant help thinking not worth the stress!!! I dont think im going find every single review as very useful to me, after all does depend surely if im likely to use or going buy ? If i have one question I would like to ask her can i rate it only useful..... just annoying as she started of by saying ive given you 2 very useful you only given me 2 useful like goodness!! Then went on about how revenge rates were against rules!!!! like you are the one bringing it up

But it could still be useful and handy to know. Dont really feel like I need to say why something is very useful or useful every single time or is that what your supposed to do?? Do i have to develop whole checklist to mark it on??

    Help!

I think there is a bit of a culture of overrating on Dooyou Gingerbicuit. I think a Useful rating is still good. I only rate VU if its just that Very Useful. I have more U ratings than VU ratings and a few SU ratings but I'm not bothered, its peoples opinion and you still get the credit whatever the rating. Although I think its nice if people leave constructive comments as to why they give you Somewhat Useful or Not at all useful I wouldn't expect any comeback for giving a useful rating and I wouldn't expect all my reviews to get VU from everybody unless it was really fantastic because not everything will appeal to everyone.

Thanks was getting very stressed! I agree if only somewhat useful or not then you would have more comments, but if' I myself have a question that I would want to ask you before I got one myself then surely I am able to say its useful but not very as I still have unanswered questions?

I mean you are rarely going be able to be 100% useful and cover everthing. But im still a consumer and surely my personal questions still count. And if I find a review more easy to read and funny surely that makes it more useful to me than a review where it tells me same information but in duller way.

Anyway feeling bit better now, just was like shock- dont want to feel like have to rate everyones as very useful just not to get grief!

During my ramblings for Dec challenge - one of the suggestions was a 1p and 2p sealed challenge.

I was thinking if we save tham from 1st Jan and open them New Years Eve - great way to finish the thread off. (thinking that it may go towards jan sales - even if it buys a packet of cards).

Can you count me in please, mum2one?

    Thanks

Ooh yes they get quite grumpy about Usefuls - not sure why as you still get 1.5pence even if they rate it "not useful" (which makes me smile - they hated it but you still got paid!!).

You can ignore her email. You don't have to give feedback (but if you put a Not Useful, its probably polite to say why!). You can read them and tell her why they were only useful if you want to. You can simply reply and say "I have read your review once and my feeling was that it was useful, it didn't just stand out".

If she has been ranting and raving, I'd be inclined to ignore her.

People then "revenge rate" (I got reported for doing that when I was a newbie just because one of the established member didnt like that I'd said his review was not useful! I felt it was quite Anti-Jewish, and felt that to me it was not useful. I then reported him to doo yoo and blocked him.). They'lll give you some not usefuls back. You still get paid so why care?!

Gingerbiscuit - if you are finding it a hassle, you can stop reviewing. No one on this thread forces anyone to do anything so don't feel you have to continue if you are unhappy with it :)

  • Thanks- love the way eveyone is so helpful here! I did comment as one of her reviews was about a wok/pan and I said that personally for me I would want to know how much it could hold.

NOw im sure for all your kitchen experts that telling you its x cm is enough, I would like to know if you can stir fry for 2 without it going over sides or if 4 is no problem. Which I thought was valid point..... for me!!!

  • I wish I could find bargains such as these... my only one was yesterday in M&S, a golfer's set of score card holder and pencil, golf ball and 10 tees - £9.50 reduced to £1.

I've been looking in M&S, Boots, BHS and Smiths, but most of the things in the sales are 'gimmicky', and things I wouldn't buy anyway. Looking at a lot of them, they are just normal things but in different packaging, i.e. in Boots I saw a "Dancing Queen Survival Kit". This had in it foot balm, foot gel things, and a few other bits and pieces, all of which could be bought separately and put together in a nice box or bag. I'm trying to think of similar packs I could come up with and put together myself, i.e. themed hampers.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but some of the things just don't seem to be worth the money they're charging. Maybe they rely on the fact that because it's Christmas, and because most people can buy what they need themselves, that the gimmicky stuff is better than nothing?
