Mum2one I'd be annoyed too. We had a horrible time with a very expensive hotel my BIL booked us into for his wedding, they gave us a complimentary meal on site at their award winning posh restaurant and that was good of them, but when we got home I sent their head office a letter anyway saying, We were pleased that they tried to repair the damage, but here are our serious safety concerns (their cleaners dropped dangerous stuff on the floor and we had a crawling baby). We eventually got a reply saying basically, We understand that the hotel gave you free stuff and we think you're trying to scam more stuff out of us by complaining again, which made me feel very embarrassed and angry. If they'd had an email address I'd have fired them off a return nastygram, but at over a euro per letter sent it's not worth the money.
Don't let them fob you off, the bastages.
In other news, my frozen Twinks dough turned out nice sliced and baked, although they look less like cookies this way so I think next time I'll let the dough defrost completely and shape it into balls. Cookies shouldn't have sharp edges :rotfl:
Cake turned out well too, it was a Nigella one with cranberries instead of glace cherries, ground walnuts instead of almonds, and a bunch of added spices.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

I got my Amazon voucher at last today, I had contacted Dooyoo yesterday asking where it was, so it meant I could order OH's Sat Nav this morning. He has given me a list of dvds he wants but I have already bought him an expnesive box set and now the Sat Nav so dont know how many more dvds I can afford to get but will try. Must get some more bits for youngest daughter though as she doesnt have much.
I have finished four of my place mats, run out of the red fabric so need to get another fq but it will have to wait until next week as no money left. Here's a pic of three of them which I tried on the table to see how they looked.
Thats about all the crafting done now for Christmas, just need to attach the clasps to the bracelets when they arrive and finish off the other 4 of these then I dont know what I will be doing next lol. Might make some more of those dolls while I have the fabric left over.0 -
Haven't read the rest of the posts I've missed. I'm just checking you all OK really.
Glad you're going to get a small token back off Tesco Mum2one. Rufus those placemats look lovely.

Edited to add: I remembered I saw it on the Grabbit too. Here's the link Clare and anyone who needs it - 1 x 99p (no upload fee) or 3 x £9.99.
Thanks elysia but it says 1 for £6.99 when I click on that link!
Angela, thanks, and I remember you talking about those, but I think it was something else I was thinking of. A way of making gift vouchers look more effective?
mum2one - well done for the continued fighting re: Tesco! Lets hope the gift card arrives! I'd still take it further - basically that manager has tried to fob you off with the offer of a gift card so you DON'T take it further! lol
Sugarspun - how rude of that hotel!!! Blinking people.
rufus - love your placemats!
I'm also in the Christmas Eve camp! However, I'm probably working Chrsitmas eve this year, but to be fair the assistant principal noramlly arranged some sort of bowling match amongst staff (we're a 2 minute walk away from a leisure centre with a bowling alley!) and everyone slopes off at 2pm. It's Chrsitmas Eve evening I love the most!
I know most things I now want to buy, but waiting until the beginning of November when Greasypalm should be giving me som Amazon vouchers. Any idea how long they normally take to come through? Then should have about £60 total (from numerous things!) in Amazon vouchers to spend. Getting itchy feet though - want to buy the stuff now!! lol

I am making a hamper for my girls in the theme of their fave toys etc. For my daughter who loves twilight i am making her a box from MDF (about A$ sixe and 4 inches deep) with a lid attached via small hinges. I was going to paint the outside in black acrylic paint and inside in red. On the lid i wanted to glue on some pictures of the twilight charcters. But then was going to "seal"the whole box. Do you all think PVA glue would be ok or should i get spray varnish?? I have also got to find some photos or magazine cutting of the chracters too :cool:0

Qaphsiel, spray varnish can be easier if you want to cover more of the box in one go and it takes away the worry of brush hairs becoming detached and sticking to the box.
Clare, I don't remember anyone talking about enhancing envelopes on here apart from me, so sorry can't help. I wonder who it was?? Only thing I also said was that the PO do vouchers that can be used in dozens of stores.
Rufus those are lovely mats.0 -
Angela - it might have been Mary, or maybe I read it on another thread. It was just like a posh way of wrapping vouchers or gift cards...... I MIGHT have dreamt it... lol
Qaphisel - which ever you end up using, test it on an unstuck-to-the-box picture or photo first to make sure it doesn't make the ink run!Addicted to Disneyland Paris!
