My grandson was round Saturday and sat and threaded loads of beads onto head pins for me so saved a lot of time and he did different combinations than I would have done my self. All the beads I used were from old necklaces etc, just bought the chain to put them on and the other bits you need to make them. Rufus xx

Could anyone help with my advent candles or has no-one done anything like that before?
Jue
You can buy transfers to put onto candles that you soak in water first or even try rub on ones, but they might be difficult.
Or you could use crystals or other embellishments e.g. leaves by using hot glue or some melted candle wax to stick them on.0 -

I`m off shopping tomorrow, taking the disabled peeps so I`ll wangle a trip to hobbycraft in somehow. And DS wants new shoes so have to get some of those
Hi Susan
Love the wangle trip to Hobbycraft,
flavoured vodka- basically any flavour avoid mixing skittles as it turns it a lovely!!!!! not shade of brown.
Wine gums - I stuck to red and orange flavours, chopped them in half, help them to dissolve quicker
Toffee - brought mixed flavour toffee from aldi - so could do couple flavours - half filled the bottle with the toffee
Kola cubes - had to break them to get into bottle -
Pear drop - we used the pink ones - but that may be an acquired taste looked more like medicine
raspberry / strawberry / cherry - fresh fruits add sugar to them put them in the bottle
For all flavours top up with vodka, give a good shake, I used value vodka - does the job - always leave a space at the top to allow shakeage. I would say for the 1st week shake daily then weekly, our toffee has 90% dissolved. The thing is don't add any extra vodka as it makes it seperate.
I used 1 x 70cl bottle, and some smaller bottles for mixing, the final plan is to put them into 5cl miniture bottles so there be taster pots. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi Everyone!
Have been busy all weekend and not had a chance to catch up on here. On a good note though, I have finished the dreaded PTA accounts, handed them over and resigned!!! Woop!!! I shall now have more time to dedicate to my NVQ for work, and most importantly, the hundreds of sock monkey orders I have!
And of course, to Christmas!!
I have not done much the last few days. I have picked up some posh chocolate bars for my aunt and uncles food hamper (orange and spice chocolate - sounds v. christmassy!!) and butterscotch chocolate. Yum! I also got my DS a lindt reindeer from poundland, so his stocking is finally done.
I did get in the christmas mood and made some Nigella Christmas morning muffins on saturday! I was baking at 6.30am! House smelled of satsuma, cinnamon and nutmeg - how yummy!
Mum2one - sorry to hear about how horrid they were in tesco - I keep hearing about how awful the staff can be (esp on the 1p thread!). I am pleased they rung and acknowledged that and hope you get an apology in the post (and some vouchers to say sorry would be nice!!!)
Off to the Isle of Wight on friday for half term... have a sore throat, earache and a headache! Hope I' not coming down with anything hideous for my holiday!
I love the sound of those muffins, could I be very cheeky and ask for a copy of the recipie.
Hope your feeling better b4 friday - think its this damm weather xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I'm going to have a go at those muffins as last year I thought they sounded lovely and then forgot all about the recipe
Now Nigella's website has changed many of the recipes have disappeared and this one has
Better have a look in my book then

Hello all :j
RufusDog the jewllery looks fantastic.
I have now got all my little girls pressie and wrapped and in the loft. Just the rest to finish now.
Ordered all my bits for Pots of gold, Snowman Soup and hampers to be delivered on Friday from Tescos so at the weekend i can be getting on with them. Also ordered most my ambient food for Christmas to be delivered Friday too. At least if i spread the cost it will help to budget.
Still waiting on my DooYoo voucher :cool:0 -
Nigellas Christmas Muffins
Makes 12
250g Plain flour
2.5 tsp baking powder
0.5 tsp bicarb of soda
100g caster sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
good grating fresh nutmeg (or quarter tsp ground nutmeg)
2 clementines/satsumas
approx 125ml full fat milk
75ml veg oil (or melted butter left to cool slightly)
1 egg
175g dried cranberries
For the topping:
3 teaspoons demerera sugar
Preheat oven to 200 degress celcius/ gas mark 6. Line a 12 bun muffin tin with muffin papers
Measure flour, baking powder, bicarb of soda, caster sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg into a large bowl; grate the zest of the clementine/satsuma over, and combine. If you are doing this in advance, leave the zesting till the morning.
Squeeze the juice of the clementines/satsumas into a measuring jug, pour in the milk till it comes up to the 200ml mark.
Add the oil (or slightly, cooled melted butter) and egg and lightly beat until just combined.
Pour this liquid mixture into the bowl of dried ingredients and stir until everything is more or less combined, remembering that a well beaten mixture makes for heavy muffins; in other words, that a lumpy batter is a good thing here.
Fold in the cranberries, then spoon into muffin cases and sprinkle the demerera sugar on top.
Bake for 20 mins, by which time the air will be thick with the promise of good things, and the good things themselves golden brown and ready to be eaten, either plain or broken up and smeared, as you go, with unsalted butter and marmalade.
Enjoy!!! :jGifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas."
