Thanks for the quick reply, I'm gonna go up the loft now to check the things you've mentioned.

It's an Ariston Clas HE System (18, 24, or 30)
OK, This puppy is supplied with a filling loop which has two 1/4 turn leve valves so my input earlier about the check valve isn't now relevant - assuming the installer used the supplied filling loop of course.

In the roof huh? Is the rising main frozen up there?

    Cheers

Better hurry up bud - we've only got another 15 minutes before the forum shuts for maintenance.

    Cheers

Well it would seriouly help if the installer hadn't put the filling loop in with that horrible kink in it!

We're out of time - the forums shut down in 1 minute for maintenance.

Have to come back to it tomorrow - sorry.

    Cheers

    Continuing....................

There doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary in your pic.

To restore pressure you should need to do no more than open the two gray 1/4 turn valves.

The kink in the filling loop needs sorting and that may be the problem. It should hang downwards in a bight.

Why don't they teach proper soldering skills these days?

    Cheers

I had turned the grey valves many a time thinking that would work, but it didn't.
Now I've got the back up that there may be something wrong I've gone ahead with contacting my letting agent. (Last time I had an issue they were going to charge me if there was nothing wrong, so just a bit wary).

Another cold night ahead though as I can't be at home all day and the company won't give a definite (ish) time, so have to wait til the morning.

Thanks for all your help Keystone, very much appreciated.

Yes I think you are correct to do it that way. I hadn't spotted that the place was a rental before we got cut off last night.

Just one quick addl thing. Above the grey filling loop valve on the RHS there is a black levered valve. Feeding that is a 15mm pipe that comes through the wall. Thats your cold water mains feed. What's on the other side? Is there another isolation valve in there preventing water flow unless its been opened?

    Cheers

Does not looks like it goes through the wall. More like a end stop.

    Hi

Just curious how it can be filled when there is no mains connection? As said it's capped.
Is there another filling loop somewhere?

You're quite right - a stopend. I saw what I expected to see - oops!

So CH is correct there must be another filling loop somewhere.

This isn't a combi Clas as post 1 suggests - its a system boiler! No DHW out connection!

OP have you got an unvented cylinder somewhere?

    Cheers
