I don't know whether it's appropriate of me to do this or not, but i'm chuckling like mad at your post. Thank you!
No, thank you!! Made my day, you having a laugh!!
Just shows that there is a community of folk ready to stand by reclaimers and to help where possible. There is always a way of getting there, and there is a lot of hope that a way will be found. By sticking together, we are stronger and won't be ignored.
We have shown that in the fight to date, and an awful lot has been achieved. Please ignore those people who post on this forum who deliberately try to misinform you. Don't be bullied by them, don't be blamed by them. You know who I mean.
You come here for advice, help and support- thats what I and like minded others will try to do.0 -

Couldn't have put it better. It's a wonderful community on here. Abeit a few, er, 'different' views have not made such pleasant reading. but that said, well done to you for that excellent post. It was nice to have a good chuckle after such a heated couple of posts.

Remember, as my mum said, lets not mock the afflicted.
You will find a good community on all of the reclaim sites.
The issue with MSE is that it is the largest consumer site and does not focus on reclaims or debt. A lot of members are interested in other consumer issues.
On the web, you obviously get all sorts. Its just that you get more of the all sorts that no-one eats here on MSE, if you get my meaning. Please ignore those people who post on this forum who deliberately try to misinform you. Don't be bullied by them, don't be blamed by them. You know who I mean.

I must say, a few of the posts today on this thread from the 'never had a bank charge, never will, those who have should sort their lives out' brigade have been bordering on vile (and in certain causes, have been disgusting)
I think those people should take a good hard long look at themselves.
If you've never had a charge in your life, just think to yourselves... for whatever reason, there MAY be a time when you get one, and then you'll see what a spiralling trap of debt it becomes. The reclaiming fight has done a lots - loads of payouts because banks KNEW their charges were unfair and also brought charges down (not enough, but it's still something)
What I am trying to say is that even for those who have never had a charge, there is no need to gloat... This campaign has had an effect on the price you will pay if you should ever find yourself unlucky enough to be stung by these dirty scheming bankers.0 -

From reading the OFT they have said that they do not believe that a collective challenge can be successfully made but an individual may well have a case to challenge the fairness of charges. Keep the head up and if you do not come back on before Christmas then enjoy the festive period.0 -
My only worry is where will it all end?
If the banks can blatantly get away with taking money and adding charges for an amount THEY consider to be reasonable then this will almost certainly drive them on even further.
Oh dear. I think a run on the banks might be the only way to go to put the point across, but that would mean many people taking part.
I quite like the idea of cancelling DD's and either paying bills in cash or online banking then withdrawing the rest, the only problem is that some services must be paid by DD.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Does anyone else get the impression this decision by the supreme court, the banks and the OFT was settled on some plush golf course somewhere in Berkshire?0

Canceling DD saved me 200 quid a month in charges. Virgin charge a fiver for paying online, but I can swallow that.0 -
No I think it was more cloak and dagger than that Neil lolKarma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000

Oh for goodness sake, your view is so simplicist. Just because people have recieved bank charges, doesn't mean that they're incapable of running their bank accounts. Yes if you do stay in the black, you don't get charged. Fair enough. The banks encourage debt, they don't make money from people in the black. Please try to be consructive, rather than criticise.0
