Isn't it wonderful when you finally get to speak to somebody that knows what they're doing?

As above, just got back from holiday, and 12hours after i return i get a text msg from O2 informing me that my phone had been restricted due to high usage.
I use a blackberry and have 600 mins and 1000 txts plus unlimited data.
So I ring them up to find out what the score is.. (having used my phone to upload approx 10 pics to facebook - as i was at the super bowl - and sent less than 10 texts and spent less than 5 mins on the phone).
The woman tells me i have incurred data charges of £650 whilst roaming!!!
...I pick myself up of the floor...
how the hell has this happened? and she says again this is due to data charges.
I ask if there's any way that i can have this reviewed as i thought i had unlimited data and she tells me that i have apparently had data charges in the past for going abroad.
Now to give you some background to this ive been with O2 for the past 7 years or so, and never to this day have i ever had a bill over £60, and that one was a rarity! Its disgusting how they can let your bill run up to £650 (10x more than previous bill max bill!!!) in 10 days without even calling to ask if everythings ok!
Its being reviewed but ive been told that since ive previously been charged for roaming...of which i was not aware i might add!!! i have no chance and that the application has been sent to 'keep me happy'.
Thanks O2(minus one customer in July 2010)
Anybody know where i stand with this, or do i have to watch a months wages get gobbled up by the O2 monster?0 -
Unlimited data is in the UK only. If you go to O2 they do an abroad package. I went to Norway with the RAF for a week last year and I subscibed to the roaming abroad package to avoid charges such as these. I was on MSN while I was over there and my data charge was £18 for the week.0

The Blackberry is talking to the server to see if there's any mail every few seconds. Over just a few days this amounts to a heck of a lot of data.
As above, any data/text/mins/ bundles you have are only for use in the UK, once you leave you're subject to roaming costs. Data can be as much a £10 a meg depending on where you are.0 -

Actually Jon, due to BB's compression, it doesn't amount to much data at all.
The £650 bill cannot be correct, if the posters usage is true and accurate. I spent 7 days in the USA over Xmas, my wife and I both have BB's, hers on T-Mobile, mine on O2, and neither of us paid more than £10 in additional charges, using email and BBM, and e-mailing pics to friends etc.0
