littlewoods charges

  • Hi I wrote off to Littlewoods reclaiming late charges of £144, I've got letter back saying no the charges are as per terms and conditions. I'm sending second letter today threatening court action. Keep me posted on how you are all getting on with your claims.
  • Hi sorry, been away for a while.

Mickwitt - you can claim back the full charges, whether it is £12 or £24 or whatever they used to charge. Although it is recognised that £12 was a fairer charge, only a court can decide what is actually fair, so therefore they shouldn't charge £12 when it only costs a few pence to send the letter.
I have so far reclaimed on 4 accounts with over a £1000 back, and got about 8 others ongoing. I have had the full amount plus CONTRACTUAL interest back on each account and this is all thanks to the wonderful MSE'rs!!
Good luck and any questions, just ask xx
Pay off as much as you can in 2011: £780/£8000
    Vouchers through surveys/shopandscan: £10/£250
    Ebay/Paypal target for 2011: £109/£1000

Wow, well done on getting your money back. I am also having trouble with these people (Littlewoods/Shop Direct). I call to make an arrangment to pay, they don't accept and want more than I can offer. Eventually I agree to pay a bit more to get off the phone then find I can't manage the payments for long. They charge £12 late payment, £12 Insufficient payment, £12 debt collection phonecalls (even though line goes dead when picked up), they even charged me once for ME calling THEIR debt collection department, this company is disgusting and I am very tempted to go down the reclaiming route, they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

    Good Luck to everyone,

    Ju :)

Hi, just wondering if anyone else has had this experience with Littlewoods...

I hadn't ordered from them in a while but when they sent me a 50% off offer, then I thought, why not! I ordered £120 of goods for £60..bargain!

The goods arrived, I was happy with them so kept them and then never though about it again as have a direct debit set up with them.

I have just received an arrears letter to say that I owed £12.96 as I had not made any payments. On further investigation, I had noticed that my direct debit had been cancelled, although it was not me that has done this!

I have been charged £12 as a late payment fee but do not think that this is acceptable, because as far as I was aware, the DD still stood, as there was no need for it to have been cancelled as there has never been any previous lack of funds etc the only reason I can think is that I hadn't ordered in a while, although I had never been informed that the DD had been cancelled. Its very strange indeed!

I have emailed then about it and have been advised to call them to discuss any debt problems! Debt?!...one missed payment for £12.96!!!
As far as I am concerned, its their fault! I will phone them and try to get the £12 charge taken off my account. I will also be giving them a 'mouthful' and to be honest, I think I may close the account as I can't be bothered with all the fuss!

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this as it will all count as ammunition in my factual verbal assault! lol :rotfl:
    Keep going, don't lose motivation!

    Hi,

Yes, I think that's it, a lack of confidence and the feeling of biting off more than I can chew so to speak. I think I would like to try as I am sick of this company. I have four accounts and the £300 balance on one of them is probably all charges.

I know I will need to send a SARS request to each account so I can work out what charges I can reclaim but not sure what to expect or to do next, but I will post up for advice when I cross that bridge.

    Thanks
    Ju

Why dont you just phone up and notify them that the payment will be late, rather than not paying and recieving a letter? they shudnt charge you then as long as you tell them when you are going to pay it. also CALLY b= you will get your £12 back just phone them and be polite, its up to the advisor if they give it back to you depending on what you say, be nice and say that they cancelled it from it being a dormant account and you will get it back if you are verbally negative to them then its less chance they will give it you back.

It's been months and months since i have been sending littlewoods letter after letter to get my charges back. They have refused in every reply. Now i'm stuck. I don't know if i want to take it to the FOS or if i should leave it. They might close the account out of spite and i don't really want to close my account yet.

Do you want your money back or do you just want to leave it?
