Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 19th December. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Good morning.
It's freezing out there & even the dogs don't want to go out for their morning wee  The snow from yesterday has frozen solid so it'll be slippy.
DS2 has his college interview this morning for A Levels so I'm going with him for that. I need to dust & vac through the house also and wrap a couple of presents.
Lunch will be poached eggs on toast & dinner is sweet & sour chicken & rice.
Just to let you know that Diva is ok just having a few days catching up on her sleep. I miss you please come back & post soon xx
Have a good day everyone & keep warm & safe.

Good Morning SunnyGirl and all to follow. Have been waiting for someone to start the thread! Still loads of snow here - I hate driving when it's like this, but need to get DH across town for work as he can't ride his moped on our road at all. The DW is on (forgot last night!) and the WM is coming to the end of its cycle. Need to make a list of exactly what I need to do today. We have DS and DGD up with us - DIL arrives tomorrow on the train as she has to work today and tomorrow. Then off to Germany on Wednesday morning! Tomorrow I have to get the dog to the kennels - about 1 mile down a real country track, so think it'll be a case of leaving the car in the village and walking! Hope you all have a really good day. ((HUGS)) to all feeling poorly or miserable.Resolution:

It's the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids jingle belling
And everyone telling
you "Be of good cheer"
It's the most wonderful time of the year
It's the hap-happiest season of all
With those holiday greetings
and gay happy meetings
When friends come to call
It's the hap-happiest season of all :xmassmile
Morning :santa2:
In my calendar - a Christmas pudding :snow_grin
I'm nowhere near the menopause, but I'm already two dwarves rolled into one - Bitchy Psycho :rotfl:
I'm not sure if we've had light snow or a very heavy frost, I'll know more when it's daylight
The concert was fab :T My friend did a solo and was wonderful
We brought the real Christmas tree in from the garden yesterday. It's shot up this year, it's almost 4ft tall and has almost outgrown it's pot. I'll be decorating it with small red baubles and orange slices. We have to nip to Morrison's, then we're visiting our friends.
Fab news that RATM are Christmas No.1. I love everything that they stand forAbout time the pop puppet masters were brought down a peg or two. They pick up an unknown with no experience, shove them in the limelight then dump them when they crumble. I could rant about this all day so I'll shut up and take myself off to Facebook, where no doubt there's a war raging :rotfl:

Morning all
Glad to hear Diva & Haribo are both ok.
DW is on WM just finished, I think thats all the washing now til after Christmas as I don't want wet washing all over the rads on Christmas day.
DS came for lunch & to collect his washing, he also sorted out the Transformer I got free for DGS for Christmas, it's Ultimate Bumblebee & he was half way between a robot & a car. A work colleague bought it for her son 1 or 2 years ago & paid £85, he only played with it once & it's been in the attic in the box ever since. I don't think DGS will play with it much, it's too complicated, but as he's mad about Transformers & it was free, I don't care.
I'm off to get my veg from the local butcher now as he opens at 7.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning All
Still loads of snow here and very cold.
Laptop is playing up again, I can't afford to keep losing it for a day or so so will invest in a netbook as backup - may get out today to do that but doubtful as have electrician coming over later this afternoon to sort out my kitchen lights.
Loads of stuff to do as per normal hope the kids entertain themselves and stop arguing today. No idea whats for dinner will sort out a menu plan later.
Have a good one.x0 -
Morning all
Dark, frosty and still very cold here. House is very quiet, OH still on early turns so he was up and away at stupid early o'clock! I managed not to get up although I did wake but snuggled back down all toasty and warm under the duvet and went back to sleep! DS1 and DS2 went to MIL and FIL's last night and will stay with them until I finish work on Wednesday lunchtime - they are only across the other side of town but the roads have been awful and OH's parents were worried about me driving over to them each morning to take the boys so suggested they just stay over - bonus! I haven't wrapped any of their prezzies so will hope to get that done tonight if not tomorrow night.
We were supposed to go to see OH's nan and grandad yesterday but they phoned early and said another 4-5 inches of snow had fallen over night and the roads were awful and so don't come because they would be worried about us with the children. We had a lovely lie-in (very rare in this house) but OH very tired but as he said last night just 4 more days then he finishes work on Christmas Eve until 4 January.
We had friends over Sat eve for food and drink had a nice time, it's great to see friends and have a few drinks etc. I only had 3 glasses of wine and was gone, really can't drink very much with the weight loss! Had quite a lot of food that I haven't eaten for a while and so have just got myself back to it yesterday and will be good from now until Christmas to limit the damage!
We have the Christmas Market in our local town today usually it's massive but don't know how it will go today as still a lot of snow on the ground here, hope it works out ok as I know how much work goes into the organisation of it and it's really good for the town. May get to have a quick wander at lunch time.
Take care those in the snow.
Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning all (and its a cold one again) ((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) if you need one.
OH retired to bed without eating his supper last night. I will be glad when we get to see this new consultant on 6th Jan, its time they sorted him out; for both our sakes.
your stuff looks lovely csarina....you have so many talents...love the Christmas cards but would never manage them.
Marie, the cards are the easy bit, I just programme the machine and it does it, its mounting them in the cards that drives me potty, I have to use triple folds with apatures, the number of times i have stuck down the wrong bit.......
I put a pencil mark on now so I get it right.
Washer is on, I have a load of dark colours in, its sheet day as well, so will be having a trip to the launderette to dry eveything once the sheets are done.
Bedroom, sewing room and bathroom day today. I was up just before 8am hear OH moving about so better go and get my shower and clean.......back later. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
morning!
we've had a very light dusting of snow here - roads treacherous. Poor DH is struggling on his milkround as its in the countryside down untreated lanes, he's just text me to say he's had a fall that winded him for 10 mins. I've told him not to take any risks - just not worth it. Later I've got to drive to Kidderminster to pick my friend up from the train ready for our night out tonight - fingers crossed the roads are better by then.
Diva - glad you're ok x
Haribo - hope your internet gets sorted soon - we miss you x
Sunnygirl - hope DSs interview goes well!
(((hugs))) if you need them
OS - washing still going round in machine then will be hung indoors, tea - having mine out so something easy for the men from the freezer.Fire cleaned out, house tidy.
Thats it for now
Take care all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
:hello:Good morning!
Glad to know Haribo and Diva are ok.
Penny_Pincher - Hope you are safely back.
No more snow here since Thursday night, but very icy everywhere - one of the ladies in the choir slipped on her way to church aand hurt her arm - she was with her son and DGKs and was close to the church when it happened, so decided she'd stay for the service and then go to A & E afterwards! Unfortunately she's a hairdresser so has lots of bookings for this week!
DH put the tree up while I was at church, but it's not decorated yet, will do that later.
I think we shall have to go to the butcher's today, to buy "ordinary" meat, though I expect there will be a long queue of people collecting their turkeys etc. We bought ours elswhere this year, thnking it would be cheaper, but actually I don't think it was!
DS came home last night with a big box; it turned out to be his boss's present to her DH. She asked DS to buy it with his card and she gave him the cash - her DH goes through all their card statements very carefully and this was the only way she could avoid him knowing she'd bought him an X-BoxToday she's going to bring the wrapping paper to work and pass it to DS while her DH's elsewhere, and DS will wrap it here - all beautifully cloak-and-dagger :rotfl:
((((HUGS)))) to all
