Still not had a response about the part in bold. Can you copy the email up so we can see the part about you having to pay extra to rebook? Very strange.

First time poster, no response - clearly a troll post.

Easyjet wouldn't attempt such sharp practices. Cancelling lightly-loaded flights - yes, but cancelling a flight and then putting it on at the same time? Naaah.
    From Poland...with love.

  • Here's a quandry for you all.

I was travelling on the 21st from Gatwick to Montpellier with Easy, supposed to depart at 12 noon, UK time. Boarded the flight at 1400 (ish), pushed back just before 1500, just as the snow started. The Captain made the call to taxy back to get de-iced (good call!), then as we were waiting the runway was closed due to the snow/ice. We held on the plane back at the stand until eventually getting airborne at 20:10, eventually arriving in Montpellier at around 23:00 local, about 7 hours late.

Firstly, the crew were fantastic throughout, as were the pax, in terms of morale and good humour. That made the whole thing bearable.

However, having been sat on the plane for over 6 hours before eventually getting airborne, we were not offered any form of food apart from the usual rubbish snacks etc "available for purchase" and a cup of tap water. My understanding of the EU travel regs these days is that for a flight of over 1500km (I'd guess MPL is over that from LGW, but it doesn't really matter!) in case of more than 3 hours delay in the terminal Easy would have been required to provide "assistance" in the form of food and drink vouchers etc. We raised this at the time with the Easy staff at the time, and their opinion was that, since we were on the plane, we were not thus entitled. (That was my guess on the position they would take before we asked them, cynic that I am!)

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm not after any compensation, but would really like to know where I stand in this position in future, and would like to send a well informed email to Easy on the subject if they have indeed got it wrong.

Cheers all and have a very merry crimbo!

I would suggest that as the aircraft had not in fact departed from it's destination, then you were entitled to the terms of the EU Regulations.

    Good luck.
  • Finally got a reply off easyjet after 10 days i am getting a full refund of both flights many thanks for the advice cityboy...
