Booked a trip to Barcelona 8/01/2010 return 10th Jan in Sept 09. Have just received e.mail stating they have cancelled my return flight but l can rebook it at an inflated price..... can they do this or what can l do about it ?
Have checked other airlines, they all seems to have raised prices.
has anyone else had this experience ?

Yet another person with an agenda.
Easyjet do not 'cancel flights and then offer the opportunity to rebook the same flight at a higher price'.From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
They must have given a reason for cancelling the flight?Gone ... or have I?0

You're lucky, at least you weren't stranded overnight at a foreign airport on a rtn leg with no accomodation / refusal to compensate. Even with it's latest problems I would always fly BA rather than Sleazeyjet, the company pulls completely unethical stunts and gets away with it because there's still a world full of suckers out there that haven't been stung yet, who are looking for cheap flights .Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Easyjet have to give you the option of a different flight back from Barcelona without extra charge.0

You will find as many people in the same position with the full service airlines as you will the budget ones. But don't let that stop you having an unqualified rant.

Very true. Happened to me with BA last year. Had to pay for my own hotel because snow had closed the airport. (Of course travel ins paid for it in the end, but I had to pay at the time)0 -

Yes!!
got to the airport yesterday to find our flight to Spain had been cancelled at the last minute!. Wasn't due to the weather as only our flight and 1 other had been cancelled that day. Waited 1 1/2 hours in the queue at customer services to find that they did not know why te flight had been cancelled!! However we were transfered onto another flight free of charge albeit from an airport 200 miles away in 2 days time. Entails travelling by coach for 6 hours today and overnight stay in a hotel which easy jet may or may not reimburse me for as its the last flight out of uk to spain easyjet had spaces on before christmas beggars cant be choosers! Annoying though! And i didn't get an apology :mad:0 -
Perhaps the plane that was supposed to fly you out was stuck elsewhere because of the weather?0

Easyjet once cancelled the return leg of my flight home but they most certainly did not try and get me to rebook it at a higher price. Surely if they are trying to get to you rebook at a higher price then that means the flight is not cancelled at all.
In my case they offered free flights on an alternative date but as this was not suitable they flew us back into Luton, rather than Bristol, and paid for a mini bus (there were 12 of us) back to Bristol. It was not ideal but they made sure we weren't out of pocket.0 -
