Did you have adequate travel insurance taken out to cover such eventualities?From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.

OP is a first time poster. Still not come back here to advise what exactly was said or offered. EJ would certainly not cancel a ticket then say you could rebook it at a higher price, but they might try and transfer you to another flight so that they can get more money from the one you were booked on, but then I am a cynic.:rolleyes:The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

No, Easyjet cannot do this as EC 261/2004 obliges it to offer the customer either a full refund within 7 days or a re-routed journey with the airline bearing the extra transport costs including transfer back to the airport originally booked. Also it is up to the customer, not the airline which of these options is taken up. Ryanair regularly breaks this EU directive by just offering your money back, but I would be surprised if Easyjet is following them in this bad practice.0

However, Easyjet don't sell return flights - they sell single flights. This can have a bearing on any compensation paid.From Poland...with love.

Although fares are sold "one way", it clearly states on easyjet website "outbound" and "return" so if you book the 2 together then you are booking a "RETURN" I would think.
+ they tailor their travel insurance based on your "return trip" dont they ?
Anyway, as cityboy has quotedArticle 8
Right to reimbursement or re-routing
1. Where reference is made to this Article, passengers shall be offered the choice between:
(a) - reimbursement within seven days, by the means provided for in Article 7(3), of the full cost of the ticket at the price at which it was bought, for the part or parts of the journey not made, and for the part or parts already made if the flight is no longer serving any purpose in relation to the passenger's original travel plan, together with, when relevant,
- a return flight to the first point of departure, at the earliest opportunity;
If the outbound flight has been cancelled, then the return can't serve any purpose can it ?0 -
I would be interested to know the answer to this. I had my flight from Luton to Zurich cancelled this morning. I have been offered the choice of transferring the passengers on that flight to an alternative flight on the same route or getting a refund on the outward journey. It states that I will also be given the option to change one additional flight on the same booking (e.g. return leg if the outbound flight is disrupted). However, it does not clarify whether this would be free of charge or the cost can be refunded.
As there are no alternative outward flights suitable to me, I cannot use the "return" flight and would obviously prefer a refund.0 -
Still not had a response about the part in bold. Can you copy the email up so we can see the part about you having to pay extra to rebook? Very strange.herts_girl wrote: »Booked a trip to Barcelona 8/01/2010 return 10th Jan in Sept 09. Have just received e.mail stating they have cancelled my return flight but l can rebook it at an inflated price..... can they do this or what can l do about it ?
Have checked other airlines, they all seems to have raised prices.
has anyone else had this experience ?:mad:The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0
