Nah windows 7 dont run faster lol. and i wouldn't use windows media centre seems all aload of rubbish. Windows media player with FFDshow and vlc installed does me
.I think you'd find it does. And the Windows Media Centre in 7 is way better than vlc! I'm going to start calling you Caveman.
Depends on your point of view.
IMO....I found Vista far slower than XP but once I had upgraded my PC the end result between the two was negligible. However Windows 7 is fast........but only compared to Vista! I don't have XP installed to compare it to anymore0 -
I dont like looks i disable everything that looks nice its a simple blue blackground and thats it all the special effects such as fading is away. No screensaver. I cant stand windows 7 or vista cause it has to much i.e UAC what a waste of space that is the stupid side with with gadgets ( i know it can be removed) no classic start menu with hack my documents has to many folders within it.
oh and i only like 35 processes running
. Anymore annoys me so much. 0 -
It takes 5 seconds to turn UAC off in 7. Then it doesnt bother you again.
You can turn aero off if you want but I find it looks far better with it on.0 -
I know you can turn it off then you have security centre bothering you to turn it back on and install virus scanners.
I also turn system restore off etc.0 -
Pcombo does have a point, I did like XP and it was far easier to use, point/click/done! Easiest interface ever!
Good point about the amount of processes running, vista/7 is a hog on resources.
EDIT - But the world turns and M$ will turn out a new OS once every 2 years or so

i could kind of understand people running hooky copies of office when it was maybe £300, but with student edition just being a few pounds, and home edition being £50 for three licences i would find it hard to justify.
If thats still too much cash then i'd run with open office.0 -

Not worth £50 when 2010 is round the corner. The beta is the way to go.0 -

Just a FYI, I've recently installed Vista Home Premium and Windows 7 Home Premium.
Vista had 44 running processes and 7 had 34, admittedly this was with no other software installed.
My Xp pro is currently showing 29 processes.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

I'm not sure what measure of anything the number of processes concurrently running is.0 -
And the UAC is annoying there is no need for it to be there.
Well the more process you have the more memory is use the more the cpu works transfering data back and forth with virtual memory slows hard drive speed down etc.0
